Another heavily sought after record and on everybody's wish list. The rarest of Roy Ayers' albums that goes for around c-note plus at shows. But before you go droppin your hard earned equity, drop 9 on this reissue and see what it's all about. Some might be expecting a banging funk record for all that scrilla, but RAMP isn't really funky. It's more of a specific soul sound from the time (1977). The songs feature the vocals of Sharon Matthews and Sibel Thrasher with arrangements by Ayers. The track of note here is "Daylight(1)" the summer groover wholly sampled by ATCQ for "Bonita Applebum." The cover of the classic "Everybody Loves the Sunshine(2)" feels right with the female vocals and Lab heads agree that it outshines the original. Heavy full gloss cover.
