Alexander Robotnick
Obsession For The Disco Freaks (Nacho Lovers, Freeform Five, Lil Bo Tweak) 12"
new track from legendary disco producer, hype remixes
Label debut for legendary disco producer Alexander Robotnick on Fool's Gold Recs! "Obsession For The Disco Freaks(1)" has been making noise in the digital realm for a minute now, and now the track finally sees a 12" vinyl release. The veteran producer seems to ramps up his classic italo style with pumping house drums, tough 303 bass, and high energy synth lines that will drive the dancefloor into a frenzy. A dope, versatile sound that'll cross over with house, disco, and techno. The Nacho Lovers take a stab at the remix(2) with swirling arpeggios and a deep drums and sub-bass for the late night rave freaks, while Freeform Five opt for more of a dark and dirty warehouse style for their remix(3). Really feeling the Li'll Bo Tweak remix(4) with its live feeling drums and hypnotic synth layers that create a strong, easy-to-feel groove. Recommended.

A-Trak
Dirty South Dance Remixes Digi-EP
unmixed rap-dance blends from Fool's Gold honcho
The unmixed companion to A-Trak's Dirty South Dance mix is here. First off, Unk goes up against The Gossip for "Walk It Out Trizz(1)," then the Clipse and Slim Thug pop bottles in Paris with Alex Gopher on "Wampercycle." Not sure of the source beat for "Frenchies Act A Fool," but Lil Jon and Three 6 have never sounded so Euro. Also not sure if M.I.A.'s "XR2" will end up on her album, but it's on here ("MIA-roder"), blended with - you guessed it - some sweet Italo beats. Recommended.

Ayres & Tittsworth
Ultimate T&A (A-Trak) EP
First they dropped the Ayres & Titties Bmore megamix on Money Studies. Then it was the first ever Bmore battle record on A-Trak's Ammo Records. Tittsworth & DJ Ayres continue their themed release dominance with the new one on their own T&A Records, Ultimate T&A. Grey market Bmore remixes collide with grey market breaks compilations, as Titts & Ayres & Co. flip the Ultimate Breaks & Beats theme and rework some fonky classics. On the A-side, "Go Back(1)" has Ayres chopping the Jimmy Castor Bunch to bits, then gluing them back together with hard claps and nasty horn stabs. A-Trak's version of "Sir Duke(2)" is spot on - not too goofy, not trying too hard to be hype. (The subtle, unexpected cuts on the hook are a nice touch.) Tittsworth finishes the A-side with his mix of Ray Charles' "Georgia(3)," then starts off the flip with the EWF classic "September(4)." There's something about Tittsworth and Earth Wind & Fire - they just go together. The best is saved for last though, as DJ Eli (yes, of Fondle 'Em fame!) reworks James Brown on "Papa(5)" and Bamabounce (aka DJ Taj) brings the house down with Minnie Ripperton's "Lovin' You(6)." Artwork by Burlesque's Mike 2600. Recommended.

Congorock
Runark (Jokers Of The Scene Remix) 12"
Italian rave music
Italy has been producing a slew of interesting new electronic producers as of late. The latest and greatest of these rave exports is Rocco Rampino, better known to partygoers around the globe as Congorock, and Fool's Gold introduces his bleeped-out, bass-heavy brand of club sonics to the world at large. Congorock's debut single "Runark(1)" is a buzzing four-and-a-half minutes of heart-attack breakbeats, ghetto house thump, and Sega Genesis synthesizer madness. The chunky anthem serves as a perfect calling card for this young producer, who in the space of a few months went from drumming in a hardcore band, to chopping up beats with his mentor Bob Rifo of the Bloody Beetroots, to producing hyperactive remixes for the likes of Rex The Dog and Boys Noize Records' Djedjotronic. "Runark" comes backed with a proggy remix by FG labelmates Jokers Of The Scene(2), as well as the jacking Congorock originals "Exodus(3)" and "Hybro(4)," all wrapped up in psychomystical sleeve art from Dust La Rock. Recommended.

Congorock
Runark (Jokers Of The Scene Remix) Digi-EP
italian rave-influence club music, hype
LAB PRE-ADVANCE EXCLUSIVO! Congorock is part of a new breed of Italian producers (Congorock, Bloody Beetroots) making hyped-up, hybrid club music. His particular tunes might be the most ravey of the bunch - 2 Bad Mice-y breakbeats, ghetto house stomp and heavy blasts of synths. "Runark" is his intense dancefloor debut on Fool's Gold. The 8 bit anthem comes backed with an amazingly prog-y extended remix from labelmates Jokers Of The Scene, as well as two more originals "Exodus" (is that Busta chopped up?) and "Hybro." Heat all around, reccomended!

Crookers
What Up Y'all (Seiji, DJ Gant-Man, Kid Cudi) Digi-EP
electro with huge remixes
After blowing-the-fuck-up with their remix of Kid Cudi's "Day 'N Nite," Crookers and Fool's Gold are back at it with a full length EP from the Italian duo. "What's Up Y'all," yet another electro jackhammer that features up and comer Izza Kizza on the hook. There's been lots of hype floating around for this one, I wouldn't be surprised if it blows up with all the kids in neon. "Knobbers" features their signature electro/bmore sound combo, and also gets a remix from Fool's Gold alum DJ Gant-Man. UK brokenbeat star Seiji contributes two remixes here, in both booty-bass and acid flavors, their collabo with Kid Cudi, "Embrace The Martian." The original version of that track, which is also included, was originally featured on Kid Cudi's A Kid Named Cudi mixtape. Six tracks total, recommended.

Dabaaz
Tu Veux La Guerre? (A-Trak) 12"
LAB US EXCLUSIVO. Import-only pic sleeve 12" featuring two of the biggest tunes from Dabaaz's new full-length. A-Trak gets behind the boards for "Regarde-Les(1)," scratching up a Clipse sample and crafting yet another ridiculously infectious beat. Flipside features the Drixxxe-produced "Tu Veux La Guerre?(2)" - the term "Eurocrunk" kinda makes me wanna shoot my face, but this is pulled off so nicely, it doesn't feel like a joke. Totally dark, Dirty South style production. DJ Paul & Juice would be proud. Includes instrumentals for both tracks. Limited stock. Recommended.

Four Color Zack & Pretty Titty
Sing Sing Breaks Digi-EP
quick n dirty bmore/rave party breaks
The Pacific Northwest duo of Four Color Zack and Pretty Titty prove that it's not the size of the ship, it's the motion of the ocean on their new EP of fast and dirty party breaks for Fool's Gold. These tracks all clock in around two minutes, but they'll leave you feeling like you just absorbed a cannon blast of glitter and confetti to the chest. On his side, Zack pits Electric Light Orchestra against Trillville on "FCZ x ELO" and takes it back to Jock Jams days on "Boom." Speaking of 90s stadium jernts, Mr. Titty incorporates some C&C with Gorilla Zoe's "Hood N*gga" on "JB RIP" and revs up some instantly recognizable synths on "Droppin It." FGR-011, if yer counting...

Izza Kizza & Nick Catchdubs
Kizzaland CD
A New Jersey transplant and product of Valdosta, GA, Izza Kizza recently signed to Timbaland's Mosley Music imprint. But before he drops the o-fish-al major label debut, he's teamed with Fool's Gold co-founder and all around good guy Nick Catchdubs for this little preview of things to come. If you haven't heard Kizza's hyperactive, stuttering rhymes, you're in for a treat - I can't really think of any reference for dude's style, it's just that unique. (Closest comparison would be those other two "eccentric" guys from Georgia, I guess...) The beats are better than your average mixtape too, mostly thanks to Kizza's NJ collaborators Souldiggaz, as well as Koolade and hyphy maestro Trackademicks. There's even a lil cameo from Missy Elliot, and a nice freestyle over a slew of Timbo beats. 19 tracks total. Recommended.

James Pants
Crystal Lite (A-Trak & XXXchange) 12"
"Baby, why you trippin on me? You know I'm tryin to build a church." James Pants is really making good on his promise to "put out quality music ONLY," as evidenced by this stacked new double-header of a 12". You already know the slumpy, synthy "Crystal Lite(1)" - maybe you already have the t-shirt? - which is thankfully bundled here with its equally dope instrumental. But how about A-Trak (er, Trizzy) and XXXchange making their Stones Throw debuts on the flip?? The Fool's Gold honcho and Fully Fitted maestro turn Pants' Pharrell-ian "Kash(2)" on its head with an absolute corker of an electro remix that you just need to hear. Also includes "Technopop(3)" with DJ Bunny and fellow Stones Throw weirdo Baron Zen. Worth the $6 for the back cover illustration alone.

Jokers Of The Scene
Acid Bagg Digi-EP
raving acid house bangers from Canada
Second EP on Fool's Gold from those beat-loving Canadians in Jokers of the Scene, DJ Booth and Chameleonic. Picking up on an even rave-ier tip than where "Y'all Know The Name" left off, "Baggy Bottom Boys" is a buzzing, pumping acid house affair - a true new rave epic if I've ever heard one. "Acidrod" goes off on a more minimal and (surprise!) acidic tip with a nod to Nate Dogg / Dre / Axelrod, then gets fitted with some Parisian thump courtesy of Brodinski. Also includes a nasty Destroy Disco remix, and a digital exclusive "DZ Ravestep mix" of "Baggy Bottom Boys." So recommended.

Jokers Of The Scene
Baggy Bottom Boys Remixes (High Contrast, DZ, Rob Threezy) Digi-EP
big electro single gets even bigger remixes
Hot and crusty batch of remixes of the Jokers' big Fools Gold single "Baggy Bottom Boys." They tapped some pretty big names from a wide spectrum of dance music, including drum and bass maestro High Contrast, rising dubstep star DZ and Chicago house producer Rob Threezy (aka Rob3). But wait, that's not all! JOTS also included their own remix of their track, which leads it away from Electroland into Techno Valley. On top of all that, you get the original version and the Pianopella, which is a great mixing tool. Six tracks total.

Jokers Of The Scene
Y'all Know The Name (Flosstradamus) Digi-12
massive dance bombs utilizing "Simon Says" and "Jiggle It"
Canadian selectors-turned-producers Jokers of the Scene (aka DJ Booth & Chameleonic) drop a bomb for their debut single with "Y'all Know The Name," a massive club re-work of Pharoahe Monch's "Simon Says" that's been getting played by everyone from MSTRKRFT to Annie Mac, Sinden to DJ AM. After turning in varied remixes for DJ Blaqstarr, Brodinski and vitaminsforyou, this one firmly establishes the JOTS sound: huge build ups, distorted bass and full on rave-age. Speaking of rave monsters - if that's your thing, wait'll you hear the Flosstradamus remix. (I'm writing this on a Monday morning and it definitely just woke me the fuck up.) Equally intense but slightly less abrasive is Nacho Lovers' remix with its rolling techno bass, stuttered samples and squelchy effects. Also on wax for the first time is JOTS' "Juggle It," a shape-shifting Young Leek remix which was getting love last year from Diplo and some of the usual suspects. This digital single also features the William Russell remix of "Juggle It" which was not on the vinyl version. Look for more from these dudes on Fool's Gold rill soon.

Kavinsky
Blazer Pic-Disc EP
If legend is to be believed, Kavinsky is the world's best-known zombie DJ and musician. Others will tell you he's the alias of Vincent Belorgey, protege of French beatmaster Mr. Oizo, friend and tourmate of Daft Punk and the Ed Banger crew. Whichever story you choose to believe, Kavinsky's new EP for Fool's Gold -- his first domestic release -- is a total no-brainer. Updating vintage Moroder and Miami Vice sounds with a French touch, Blazer features three of the possibly undead producer's finest cuts from his import releases -- "Testarossa Autodrive(1)," "Dead Cruiser(2)," "Grand Canyon(3)" -- and seals the deal with the exclusive unreleased gem "1986(4)." The whole thing is wrapped up in a spiffy Ferarri tire pic disc designed by (who else?) Dust La Rock, and is strictly limited to 1,000 copies.

outstanding remix of Cudi's debut single
Crookers bring the heat with hands down the finest remix of Kid Cudi's debut single - a bumping, Bmore-influenced house stormer with bouncing bass for days and alarms sounding off like it's Lost and the hatch is 'bout to implode. Kid Cudi
Day 'N' Nite (JOTS Remix) Digi-12
debut single from this spacey cleveland/brooklyn mc
I'm actually kinda glad this single has taken so long to drop: "Day N Nite" was one of my favorite songs of 2007, but since it's not officially released until... well, right now, I can put it at the top of my 2008 lists too! Cudi, along with his man Dot Da Genius on the beat, has crafted one of the best slo-mo stoner rap anthems in recent memory. Not to be outdone, Cudi's labelmate's Jokers of the Scene get this one prepped for the dancefloor with their surging raved out remix. The flip features another slumper, "Dat New New," with a nice flow from Cudi and guitar loop / wet drums beat by Dot. This might be my favorite release on Fool's Gold yet. Includes instrumentals for both tracks, plus dirty and clean mixes for "Dat New New." Recommended.

Kid Cudi
Day N Nite Remixes (Crookers & Jokers of the Scene) 12"
Limited test press of the Kid Cudi remix everyone's been clamoring for. Previously only available as a download, Italian duo Crookers'(1) stuttering, air-raid siren-sounding mix of the new indy rap stoner anthem "Day N Nite" sounds even nicer on wax, and here's it's buoyed by a trio of equally effective dancefloor versions. Bimbo Jones(2) brings a nice tech-y house version with a killer piano breakdown, and the flip includes the Jokers of the Scene(3) mix which was on the original (now out-of-print) Fool's Gold 12" as well as a Mobin Master(4) mix which is pretty similar to the Crookers version (not a bad thing). Get 'em while they're hot. Recommended.

Kid Cudi
Man On The Moon: The End Of Day CD
ambitious debut LP from the rappa/sanga
Kid Cudi has been making waves recently with his spacey, left-field brand of introspective hip hop, and all the naval gazing has finally culminated in this debut LP, executive produced by Kanye West. Man On The Moon is an album in the purest since of the word, a completely cohesive statement that barely wavers, despite the fact that multiple producers contributed content to the record. Additionally, the album is divided into five acts, each containing a handful of tracks. Many of the beats feature lush arrangements, featuring dense synth patches and orchestral string arrangements ("Soundtrack 2 My Life(1)," and the OMD sampling "Simple As...(2)," for example). Indie/electronic duo Ratatat earn proper hip hop production credits here, contributing beats for "Alive(3)" and "Pursuit Of Happiness(4)," the latter of which also features indie pop stars MGMT on the hook. Examples of Cudi's darker, spacier side show up on "Solo Dolo(5)," "In My Dreams(6)," and the little single that could, "Day N' Night(7)." The album isn't all doom and gloom though, with "Enter Galactic(8)" and current single "Make Her Say(9)" providing some upbeat moments. The double LP comes packaged in a nice gatefold sleeve with artwork that was, according to the liner notes, painted by Kid Cudi himself. While it might not be loaded up with club bangers, it's filled with some great new ideas that make for a refreshing listen. Highly recommended.

Kid Sister
Control (A-Trak & XXXchange) Digi-12
debut release on a-trak + catchdub's fools gold
Debut release from A-Trak & Nick Catchdubs' new label, FOOL'S GOLD! It's also the long-awaited (and I mean LONG-AWAITED) on-record debut of Chicago's Kid Sister, who's been building hype in a way we haven't seen since that one girl a couple years ago. Kid Sis has been touring both coast-to-coast and international style, showing up on "CRAZY HOT ARTISTS TO WATCH IN 2007" type lists all over the place and even landing on the cover of URB with Flosstradamus. (And yes, she and J2K are really brother and sister.) Spank Rock's XXXchange provides the beat for "Control," and it's monstrous - a real squelchy electro beast with panning bass and a killer hook with Kid Sis & Young Josh trading lines back and forth. Can't say enough good things about this track, so I'm just gonna stop and let you check the sample. On the flip, A-Trak flips a clever sample for the perpetually percolating "Damn Girl." Kid Sis has personality for days - every line just dripping with that SASS - and Trizzy's expert scratching adds that intangible something extra. But the sleeper here will be DJ Gant-Man's remix of "Damn Girl," repping Chicago extra hard with that juke style. The whole thing comes in a glossy, full-color pic sleeve with artwork by Dust La Rock. Includes dirty, clean and instrumental versions of "Control," as well as main, instrumental and "scratchapella" versions for "Damn Girl." Highly recommended.

"Get Fresh(1)" features retro-meets-futuristic production courtesy of A-Trak and XXXChange while Kid Sis throws in a voice tweaking southern delivery, a la Missy Elliott. Zombie Nation and Alex Gopher get called up for remix duty, with the former turning in a modern electro rework(2) (think Egyptian Lover with newer keyboard sounds) and the latter conjuring a ravey dub version(3). Also includes a dub version of the Zobmie Nation remix, and the original instrumental. Packaged in a fantastic looking pic sleeve, designed by the always-on Dust La Rock. Recommended.

Kid Sister
Pro Nails (feat. Kanye West) 12"
GOT HER TOES DONE UP WITH HER FINGERNAILS MATCHIN'! This is the one, the jam everyone's been asking after since it showed up on Kanyeezee's last mixtape. The A-Trak produced "Pro Nails(1)" is dope enough on its own, but the remix(2) has the extra hot sauce with Kanye talking about Hammer Pants and being on Concrete Loop in his PJs. Oh yeah and can all the haters please sit down now and acknowledge that Kid Sis is MEAN on the mic? If "Pro Nails" doesn't convince you, flip over to "Switch Board(3)" and check her spitting at juke speeds. DJ Gant-Man - whose remix of "Damn Girl" even eclipsed the original - puts down the hype beat and even gets on the mic for the assist: "COCA COLA SHAPE WITH A ONION IN THE BACK!" Quotables for days all over this record, plus dirty clean and instrumental versions for "Pro Nails" and dirty / instrumental for "Switch Board." Another high quality pic sleeve from Dust La Rock. Highly recommended.

Kid Sister
Pro Nails Remixes (Bag Raiders & Gant-Man) CD
Didn't think it could get any more infectious than the original "Pro Nails(1)," but this new CD single release (Kid Sis' first on Downtown- big things) features a straight whomper of a remix from the Bag Raiders(2)! It takes a minute to build up at syrupy half speed, but once those big toms, bubbling electronics and super high gloss Braxe/Falke synths take over, it's lights out. (Then they REALLY kick it into high gear for the end...) The other remix keeps it closer to home, with Chi-Town's own Gant-Man(3) going for less juking, more jacking. He also provides the beat for the B-side, "Switch Board(4)." Unfortunately only the clean version of the Kanye-guesting "Pro Nails" is provided, but hey... you can still get it on the 12"... 5 tracks; 20 minutes.

Kid Sister
Remixes (Simian Mobile Disco + LA Riots) 12"
This one deserves the... hooooooly chit! A-Trak and Catch called in the big guns for this vinyl-only EP featuring four brand new remixes of Kid Sis' finest cuts to date, "Control" and "Pro Nails." Remixes by whom, you ask? Hows about SMD (aka Simian Mobile Disco), JFK of MSTRKRFT, newly-inked Fool's Gold'ers LA Riots, and the juke icon himself DJ Gant-Man. I gotta say, Simian steal the show with their remix of "Pro Nails(1)," even though it's more of a cover version and doesn't even feature any Kid Sis vocals! Instead, SMD re-imagine the track as a slow rolling, dubstep-flavored heater and the results are entrancing. Gant-Man's excellent jacking club mix(2) gets a reprise too, and that one's got nuff Kid Sis vocal chops. Flip it over for a pair of cracking "Control" mixes: JFK's raved out banger(3) and LA Riots bassy 4x4 take(4). Now that's bang for your buck. Comes in a stickered Fool's Gold jacket. Recommended.

Laidback Luke & A-Trak
Shake It Down (DJ Sneak Remix) 12"
LAB EARLY EXCLUSIVO. Label co-founder A-Trizzy returns to Fool's Gold with prolific remix master Laidback Luke on the massive "Shake It Down(1)." And by massive I mean the song itself sounds huge with heavy kicks and the classic vocal drops ("shake it down... just bang it... shake it down..."), but also massive 'cause it's been getting play from EVERYONE - Pete Tong, Tiga, Erol Alkan, Sinden, Diplo, etc. Add a remix on the flip from the legendary DJ Sneak(2) and slap it in a sharply designed Dust La Rock sleeve and this one's a no-brainer, kids. Plays at 45.

Malente
I Like It (Riva Starr, Mikix The Cat) Digi-EP
house and electro versions of an infamous KC & The Sunshine Band track
New electro heat from our homies over at Fools Gold! "I Like It" is built on a sample of KC & The Sunshine Band's infamous wedding tune (well, I guess most of their stuff is default wedding fodder at this point). Malente's version drops the intro sample just long enough for the crowd to recognize it before launching into a blistering electro interpolation. Riva Starr brings things closer to disco house territory, chopping the original sample into staccato stabs, while Mikix The Cat summons some massive basslines for a fidgety electro version. Fantastic production all around, recommended.

Nacho Lovers
Acid Life (DJ Eli & Jokers of the Scene) 12"
Nacho Lovers is the nom du dancefloor of Andrew Ross and Scott Seewhale, a pair of Torontonians who first bonded over a shared love of classic Chicago house and Detroit techno. These days, they're crafting some acidic, synth-draped dance neo-classics of their own, and their first official release for A-Trak and Catchdubs' imprint is already turning heads. (They just got off the mega Fool's Gold Remixed tour with a whole slew of their labelmates.) Whether it's the chugging, hyper-repetitive throb of "Acid Life(1)," the jagged, soul-sampling "Go On(2)," or one of the excellent remixes they got here - might I suggest DJ Eli / Eli Escobar's Bmore-ified take on "Acid Life(3)"? - there's some serious heat for your winter crate contained herein. Also includes a remix from label homies and fellow Canadians Jokers of the Scene(4). Recommended.

Nick Catchdubs & DJ Ayres
Super Friends CD
Catch & Ayres team up for Round 2 in the Super Friends mix series - you don't wanna miss this one. The boys take it back to the 80s (in an entirely un-cheesy way), mixing choice new wave / dance rock cuts from Depeche Mode, Squeeze, INXS, Gary Numan, Pixies, Devo, The Clash, Psychedelic Furs and so on. They also unveil some new blends (Zongamin vs. Cardigans is a shocka) and some drop current bombs (Phones remix of Wolf & Cub(!), new Snowden, 908 remix of Adam Kesher). Quick, solid mixing, flawless selection, one hour of jamz. As a great man once put it: 'Nuff said.

Sammy Bananas
Braids & Fades Digi-EP
90s classics reworked
DJ/producer/saxophonist Samuel "P.Nice" Bananas returns to the Fool's Gold fold with his second batch of ultra useful edits and remixes. Whereas the instantly-sold-out High Top Fades EP covered the 80s, Braids & Fades moves forward in time and finds young Sam reworking some classic 90s jams. On the A, it's Jomanda's "Got A Love For You" getting a Bmore overhaul on "Work Me" and Salt N Pepa's "Shoop" chopped up over sublime squelching bass on "Get Set Go." Flip it over for "Ooh Bop" - an En Vogue rework, my favorite and the most instantly recognizable of the four joints - and "Ladies." Chalk another one up for the Fool's Gold team.

Sammy Bananas
High Top Fades Digi-EP
uptempo 90's party reworks from one half of Certified Bananas
As one half of the DJ duo Certified Bananas, Sammy Bananas has been bringing his style-swapping dancefloor mania to crowds around the country for the past few years. Now, he's linked up with A-Trak & Catchdubs' Fool's Gold label and is branching out into producing club jams of his own. On High Top Fades, young Sammy melds the spirit of his DJ sets into four imaginative, uptempo reworks of 90s dancefloor classics. He transforms "Here Comes The Hotstepper" into a 126 BPM bassline monster ("Tha Stepper") perfect for mixing with the likes of Diplo and Switch. K7's jock jam "Come Baby Come" gets doused in rocket fuel ("K7 Baby"), and the Fresh Prince's perennial "Summertime" is turned into the off-kilter banger "Summer Bounce." Sam proves here that creative production can still be infinitely crowd pleasing. These mixes are gonna be huge from now until the NEXT 90s revival.

Sharam
She Came Along (feat. Kid Cudi) 12"
poppy hip-house
Whoa, a dance-pop anthem that features fast raps about breakups from Kid Cudi and samples Patsy Cline for the hook!? This is definitely not what I was expecting from Data Records. "She Came Along(1)" has an old school synth pop feel to it, but then everything gets turned on its head once Kid Cudi comes in and starts making puns about Fugazi and Siamese twins. Kind of a weird musical nugget, sounds like something you'd hear on a KTU mixshow in the back of a towncar while you're being driven to a party on a Saturday night. The Re-Up Extended Mix(2) keeps the same feel of the original, but strips it down and features more of the original elements from the Patsy Cline song. On the flip, the Vandalism Remix(3) takes it close to big room house territory, while the Ecstasy Of Ibiza mix turns it into a dubbed out 9 minute tech-house track. I'm going to go ahead and recommend this, for the left field factor alone.

Awesome (feat. The Cool Kids) 12"
hip hop over a slowed down electro beat
Lead single from the Bloody Beetroots' recently-dropped Romborama LP. This one sees their signature electro sound get slowed down into a muddy, chaotic stomper, and then the Cool Kids come in and lace the track with some serious braggadocio. Comes packaged in a nice lookin pic sleeve, same track on both sides, plays at 33.

The Subs
My Punk (Jokers Of The Scene, Alex Gopher) 12"
heavy rave beats, JOTS remix
Second single from The Subs debut album Subculture. The Subs brand of electro rave beats is uber-distorted, rambunctious, and would probably annoy the shit out of your neighbors when played loudly. Listening to the grinding bass pulses and discordant vocal yelps of "My Punk(1)" brings to mind a dancefloor of rave zombies stomping away at the night while noshing on flesh. Yeah... it's that harsh, but you love it. Fool's Gold representers and general purveyors of mayhem and debauchery JOTS get the full A-side for their remix(2). It starts with seemingly standard jack beats, but then gets full rager mode with sub-sub bass and seriously wonky synth tweakage. Would go well with your Boys Noize type stuff. Alex Gopher actually tries to get a bit funky on his "My Punk Is My Funk(3)" remix, borrowing methods from the old school house sound and infusing it with the modern electro style of the original. A-side 45, B-side 33.

Twelve Steps: The T&A Remixes (DJ Day, Sammy Bananas, Trackademicks) EP
Five primetime party remixes of joints from Tittsworth's debut album on Plant Music, and you know Titts & Ayres wouldn't skimp on the remixers for this one. Melting Pot's DJ Day kicks it off with his feel-good Latin/disco/Bmore hybrid mix of "Here He Comes(1)" with Pitbull on the mic and Nina Sky channeling Hall & Oates. Watch for the squelchy keys toward the end - glad to know Day's back at it. Meterhead follows with his take on "Drunk As Fuck(2)" with hyphy forerunners The Federation, where he replays New Order's "Blue Monday" and whips the whole thing into an electro-Bmore whomper. Sammy Bananas (Fool's Gold) transports Kid Sister and Pase Rock to Spring Break '92 with his mix of "WTF(3)" featuring a hyper "Rump Shaker" jack, while Bird Peterson puts the bassline/fidgit chop on Ludacris' "Southern Hospitality" for his remix of "Tear The Club Up 2008(4)s." Bay area producer and recent Fool's Gold signee Trackademicks closes things out with his take on "Drunk As Fuck(5)" with an Alkaholiks sample that reveals itself right at the end. Also includes the instrumental for DJ Day's remix. 6 tracks total.

WTF (feat. Kid Sister & Pase Rock) 12"
Second single off Tittsworth's debut album, and boy is it a single. He got Fool's Gold first lady Kid Sis to jump on the break-filled "WTF(1)" alongside former Five Deez / current Fully Fitted dude supreme Pase Rock; both lend flashy bars and help out on the "WUSSUP WUSSUP?" hook, and, well, it is money. Titts' Taxlo/T&A cohort Dave Nada and partner Matt Nordstrom (aka Nadastrom, duh) work the Bmore Dubsided vibe on their mix(2), and Money Studies associate DJ Eli Escobar(3) mixes a little minced disco with hard club beats for his version. Also includes the glitched out Smoke & Mirrors remix(4), a buzzing take from DJ Wool(5) and the original's instrumental.

Enjoy What You Do (Flosstradamus Remix) 12"
Highly anticipated Fool's Gold debut from Bay Area rapper/producer Trackademicks. Trackademicks has been making waves for years via mixtapes, remixes and original productions so it's about damn time he got some official shine. "Enjoy What You Do(1)" is an uptempo Bay Area slapper, that sounds like a hip-house track dipped in hyphy sauce. Flosstradamus step up to the remix plate, injecting some rave juice into the original by adding big synth stabs and stuttered vocals. The single also features "Topsidin'(3)," a more subdued hip-hop track, built on a moderate tempo from layered ethereal synths. Also includes instrumentals for both tracks. Recommended.

Fool's Gold Remixed (Rusko, Chromeo, Surkin) 12"
lab exclusivo release
The Fool's Gold Remixed comp was among last Fall's most enjoyable releases, featuring a slew of the young label's biggest hits remade by everyone from DJ Spinna and Chromeo to the Lab's own Blu Jemz. And it was free! That's gotta rank up there with the Biggie / Craig Mack "Big Mack" burger cassette in the history of "World's Greatest Promos." The bounty continues with this limited edition, promo only 12" featuring four of the compilation's biggest records: Chromeo's take on Treasure Fingers' "Cross The Dancefloor(1)," French whiz kid Surkin's rework of Nacho Lovers' "Acid Life(2)," Rusko's funky (and Kanye-free) dubstep take on Kid Sister's "Pro Nails(3)," and a dreamy new version of Kid Cudi's international smash "Day 'N' Nite(4)" by techmeister Jori Hulkkonen. Turntable Lab picked up the remaining copies, and when they're gone, they're GONE - this is your only chance to get these songs on vinyl so act fast, buckaroo.

Fool's Gold Remixed Digi-EP
diverse remixes of FG's biggest tracks
Damn! Fool's Gold just killed it from every angle with this remix collection. Some of the biggest tracks from the FG catalog (as well as some new ones that aren't even out yet) get flipped properly in a wide range of diverse styles from some of the best in the game. Right from the get go, you get slapped with the no-brainer boogie remix of Cross The Dancefloor by Chromeo, A-Trak's Say Whoa gets the tasty house breaks treatment by DJ Spinna (whoa!), Jokers Of The Scene remix themselves for super epic rave results, and Kid Sis' Pro Nails gets the ridiculously heavy dubstep remix by Rusko. Even the Lab's own Blu Jemz gets in on the action and takes Nacho Lovers' Go On on a sick gangster slump. Also features remixes by JOTS, Surkin, Shadow Dancer and more. Not a loser in the bunch. Recommended.
