Ever since David Byrne put Os Mutantes' catalog back in print (for about two seconds), folks have been rediscovering the greatness that was this Brazilian psych-pop-rock-whatever trio. This CD gives a part of their history not very thoroughly documented on the reissues -- their unsuccessful attempt to (literally) translate their popularity from Brazil to America. Originally released in 1970, this record featured a number of Mutantes' already dope songs, re-arranged and re-recorded with English-language lyrics. Some of them work ("Baby," for instance, with its insane hallucinatory shit about trying new ice cream flavors) and some of them don't (they totally fucked up "Bat Macumba"!), but either way it's a pretty interesting piece of Brazilian music history. 13 tracks total.
