Quality repress of this solid 1955 outing, marking the first appearance of Miles' "classic" quintet which featured the powerhouse lineup of John Coltrane on tenor, Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Philly Joe Jones at the kit. As you'd expect for the time, the arrangements are nothing too mind-blowing but the group does effortlessly and flawlessly run through now-standards from the likes of Duke Ellington ("Just Squeeze Me(1)") and Paul Denniker ("S'posin'(2)"). Miles plays muted and soulful on the smokey late-nighter "There Is No Greater Love(3)," then gets things swinging with the album's lone original composition, his "Theme(4)." Great for late Saturdays into early Sundays. 6 tracks; about 35 minutes.
