Aww yeah! The homie Kid Koala from Montreal is back with Dynomite D and the rhythm section of Wolfmother(!) to breathe some much needed freshness back into the turntablist music scene. The Slew project is much harder and more rockin' than any of the other Kid Koala projects you've heard in the past (though still just as, if not more fun!) thanks to the raw cutting of wailing guitars and vocals from deep blues rock records and live drums and bass. The end result sounds like the channeling of Jimi Hendrix' spirit through the modern DJ turntable and really has to be heard to be believed 100% rocks hard from beginning to end, but check these highlights for a taste - "100%(1)," "Problem Child(2)," "You Turn Me Cold(3)," "Robbing Banks Doin' Time(4)," "The Grinder(5)," "Shackled Soul(6)," and "Battle Of Heaven & Hell(7)." Also of note: the album was mixed down by Beastie Boys producer and engineer Mario Caldato Jr who says he hasn't heard anything this crazy since Paul's Boutique. Whoa. Definitely catch the live show if it comes through your city.
