Shackleton Three Eps CD
dark and minimal dubstep
|
the lab review
Shackleton has always been on his own thing (which is why he's one of the more interesting producers in the dubstep realm). The master of dark, tribalistic, dubstep visions has recently moved from the UK to Berlin, and with that move has come a move in labels - from his Skull Disco imprint to Perlon, home to many astute producers including Ricardo Villalobos. This move also can be heard in a slight mutation in his music. On Three EPs, that sparse darkness is still there, but now coupled with a rhythmic deepness that seems to be mixable with Berlin's big minimal techno and house scene. It's pretty mmuch consistent on every track in this release which pulses with depth while keeping tense and droning at the same time. Check the sounds: "(No More) Negative Thoughts(1)," "Lets Go(2)," "Mountains of Ashes(3)," "Moon Over Josef's Burial(4)," "Asha In The Tabernacle(5)" and "Trembling Leaf(6)." 9 tracks total.
