Lab Overview

Early Beasties hardcore material back on wax! Just a few years before Rick Rubin produced the rap trio’s multi-platinum debut Licensed To Ill out of his NYU dorm room, the Beastie Boys were a bunch of punks tearing up the L.E.S. hardcore scene. Formed out of another hardcore group, The Young Aborigines, the Beasties were initially a quartet with Kate Schellenbach on drums. You could catch them playing alongside Bad Brains and Reagan Youth at legendary punk venues like CBGBs and A7 (right down the block from our old 7th St. storefront). The elegantly titled Some Old Bullshit compiles early punk tracks like “Transit Cop” and “Egg Raid on Mojo” from their 1982 EP Polly Wog Stew alongside their first hip-hop single “Cooky Puss.” It also includes two demos from Tim Sommer’s college radio program Noise the Show. 14 tracks on 180g vinyl with folded liner note insert.

  • 180g black vinyl pressing
  • includes printed foldout insert
  • first time on vinyl since 1994
