Lab Overview

Yes Yes Ya'll, and Ya Don't Stop! Welcome repress of Aesop Rock's 2001 debut on Def Jux. For Labor Days, the NY-native MC weaves intricate tales on the concept of "work" over stunning beats by Blockhead (plus a few self-produced gems as well). As one of the most skilled lyricists to emerge from the backpack rap scene of the late 90's/early 00's, it comes as no surprise that Aesop Rock is chock full of incredible wordplay and next level rap narratives that few can even come close to. Check "Daylight" for a taste, then get into the steady head nod of "Boombox," Bent Life" with C-Rayz Walz, or "One Brick" with Illogic. An indie rap classic from the era and a shining jewel in the Def Jux catalog. 14 tracks spread over 2LPs.
