Lab Overview

Originally released in 1993, Innocence And Experience compiles fan favorites, rarities, and live tracks from Boston's The Blake Babies. The Juliana Hatfield-led trio's jangly, mid-tempo jams are full of youthful, punk-indebted energy, and Hatfield's whispery vocals perfectly complement the band's simple but effective guitar/bass/drums lineup. "Wipe It Up" from Nicely, Nicely opens up the record, which also contains The Blake Babies' live cover of Neil Young's "Over and Over." Other highlights include "You Don't Give Up," "Cesspool," and "Out There," with the 11-tracker being a solid survey of the group's raw and sometimes unpolished charm.
