Fed up with U.S. soul hits getting too many spins on the radio, Studio One’s Clement Dodd, Duke Reid, and Lee Perry began buying air time from stations in the ‘70s. With Winston Williams helming the Saturday morning slots as the jock, Studio One records were played without interruption on Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation airwaves, and this record collects two rare performances— “Sound of Young Jamaica” (featuring Winston Francis, The Boss, Jerry Jones, The Heptones, Ernest Ranglin, Horace Andy and Burning spear) and “Soul Power and Sound (with Sugar Minott, Ken Boothe, Alton Ellis, and The Heptones and Carletone & The Shoes).
