Lab Overview

Peepshow, originally released in 1988, is the 9th album from Siouxsie And The Banshees. Guitarist Jon Klein joined the band, as did multi-instrumentalist Martin McCarrick, and the band recorded as a quintet for the first time. "Peek-a-Boo" leads off the critically acclaimed record, and it's a bold creative step that sees the UK group experimenting with dance music elements, abrupt horns, and even an accordion. The gamble paid off, however, as the song enjoyed success on the charts, especially in the U.S. The rest of the 10-tracker remains readily expansive, as Siouxsie And The Banshees' signature darkness looms over the group's menacing mix of rock & pop sensibilities; the LP is a harrowing-yet-beautiful sketchbook of "sounds, ideas, and vivid imaginations," certainly one of the strongest in the group's revered catalog. Highlights include "The Killing Jar," "The Last Beat Of My Heart," "Scarecrow," and "Rhapsody."
