Lab Overview

"Ingenious, refined, daring." Tadd Mullinix started producing under the Dabrye moniker almost 20 years ago. With 2001's One/Three, which fused Detroit hip-hop aesthetics w/ the glitchy, rough underbelly of electronica, Mullinix would influence the beats scene that would form years later, and his innovative sounds come full circle w/ Three/Three which completes the prophetic trilogy that also includes 2006's Two/Three. Razor sharp but also loose and rounded out by soul and jazz sonics, the instrumentals provide the backdrop for some of Detroit's finest: Guilty Simpson, Phat Kat, Danny Brown, Shigeto, and more make appearances. Dabrye also looks beyond his beloved city, enlisting Ghostface Killah, Jonwayne, MF DOOM, and Roc Marciano to lend top-notch lyrical punches. A big shout to Dabrye for completing this "creative arc," it comes more than a decade after but he does not miss a beat. Check out "Lil Mufukuz," "The Appetite," "Tunnel Vision," and "Stranded."
