Lab Overview

2003 major label debut from the hard-hitting Los Angeles punk outfit. The Distillers formed in 1998, and lead by vocalist/guitarist Brody Dalle, they released The Distillers and Sing Sing Death House before signing with Sire. Coral Fang, the band's third full-length, would also be the last as it disbanded in 2006 (Dalle and guitarist Tony Bevilacqua has gone on to form Spinnerette). Dalle's intense, outstanding vocals/screaming that set the tone for The Distillers, with crunchy guitar, catchy melodies and hooks filling out the record for a a very accessible, yet still gritty, listen. The poetic lyrics, focusing on Dalle's ex-husband and the internet, give the tracks depth.  Check out "Drain the Blood," "Dismantle Me," "Death Sex," "Die on a Rope," and "The Gallows is God."
