Lab Overview

South Africa stay funky.  Cultures of Soul blessing us some serious heat rocks on Boogie Breakdown. As the title states, this comp pulls together South African synth disco jams circa 1980 to 1984, and trust - it's all fire. When it comes to African records (and even more so African boogie 12"s) even the most elite diggers raise the white flag due to rarity and price. Thankfully DJ Okapi and Deano Sounds share their expert deep knowledge on the genre with selections that are the cream of the crop. Check the dancefloor burners from The Cannibals, Benjamin Ball, Don Laka, Neville Nash, and Al Etto. So much good stuff to dig into, this is definitely a contender for best boogie comp of the year. 12 tracks in all spread across double vinyl with gatefold sleeve featuring liner notes on each selection. Recommended.
