Lab Overview

Dennis Wilson co-founded and played the drums for the Beach Boys. He was a true surfer who fully embodied the California spirit that inspired the group's early materials, and he began contributing as a songwriter, producer, and vocalist during the late-'60s and early-'70s ("Little Bird," Be Still" off of Friends). Wilson began recording the provisionally titled Bambu even before releasing his 1977 solo debut, Pacific Ocean Blue, and Bambu - The Caribou Sessions collects the highlights from what was to be his sophomore full-length. Melancholic and heartfelt, the pop-rock ballads on this release showcase an artistically mature Wilson who also was not without struggles—substance abuse, personal issues, etc. Highlights include "Love Surrounds Me," "Under the Moonlight," "Common," "It's Not Too Late," "All Alone," and "Constant Companion." Pressed on green vinyl, limited to 3000 copies, includes liner notes from Ken Sharp (author of Dreamer: The Making of Dennis Wilson's 'Pacific Ocean Blue') and digital download.
