Lab Overview

Sophomore album from Melbourne's Camp Cope. Georgia McDonald's soft-yet-powerful voice is certainly the initial draw for the 9-tracker, but the chemistry between Maq, drummer Sarah Thompson and bassist Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich is what keeps How to Socialise & Make Friends together. So real and in fine tune w/ what's happening in the world, Mcdonald writes informed, poignant songs that deal with everything from gender/relationships to the aftermath of a sexual assault. The musical framework is efficient and fitting, with straight-foward guitar chords, dynamic bass work, and simple, expressive rhythms supporting the vocals. Highlights include "The Opener," "UFO Lighter," and the title track.
