Lab Overview

"Jam on to a sound more sophisticated." Another welcome deep dive from Numero, this time into a universe of outsider synth funk from University City's Chasman. If the name looks familiar, chances are you picked up Numero's excellent Escape From Synth City compilation, on which Chasman's "Windfall" was the opening cut. The track is the perfect introduction to that world of lo-fi synthesizer funk beats, but with the reissue of the entire Synth-E-Fuge album, we get to see the whole picture. Here Charles Grossman (aka Chasman) explores deviant strains of electro, boogie, and funk, armed with nothing but his trusty Korg DW-8000 synth. An impressive feat to say the least, with a variety of instrumentals and vocal tracks to keep you grooving in the cut. 8 tracks of '89 private press gold faithfully reissed with repro pic sleeve. Recommended.
