Check her on the two opening tracks \"Days To Come\" and \"Between The Lines.\" I usually don't like the idea of dudes singing on a downtempo track, but \"If You Stayed Over\" with \u003cstrong\u003eFink\u003c\/strong\u003e might be the best thing on here. It's a mix that I definitely spent a good amount of time with a little while after it first came out. And it all comes back to me, from the start of Kruder's Long Loose Bossa mix of \u003cstrong\u003eRoni Size\u003c\/strong\u003e's \"Heroes,\" to getting a little annoyed with \u003cstrong\u003eJustin Warfield\u003c\/strong\u003e's corniness on the \u003cstrong\u003eBomb The Bass\u003c\/strong\u003e track, the one two punch of the K\u0026amp;D Sessions of the \u003cstrong\u003eRockers Hi-Fi\u003c\/strong\u003e cut and \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/turntablelab.com\/search?q=Depeche+Mode\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eDepeche Mode\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e's \"Useless\" (anyone wanna send ya boy the UK pressing of that 12\"?). While Stinson’s work with Drexciya exists in the realm of the mythical and aquatic, \u003cem\u003eLifestyles\u003c\/em\u003e is purely terrestrial, human. The one-line refrains deal with the most tangible and relatable human emotions (“let me be what I wanna be”, “you said you want me,” etc.). Compared to the \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eDrexciya\u003c\/span\u003e catalog, Stinson’s simple yet potent arrangements are considerably more gentle, usually consisting of a light drum machine pattern (mostly TR-808) and a few analog synths providing melodic basslines, soft pads and plucked keys. It’s hard not to be uplifted by the meditative hook, breezy melody and infectious bassline of “Sunrays”. “Moonlight Rendezvous” is quite possibly the most romantic Detroit techno record not produced by \u003cstrong\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.com\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=carl+craig\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eCarl Craig\u003c\/a\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cem\u003e. Lifestyles\u003c\/em\u003e covers the other end of the spectrum, too; “Lifestyles Of The Casual” will appeal to fans of the sinister, cosmic electro of Drexciya, and “Let Me Be Me” is a total ass-shaker of an anthem for personal expression on the dance floor. This is one of those albums you’ll want to keep near the turntable for low-key Sunday afternoons at home, so buy a second copy for your DJ bag. Jaar explains: \"I started making most of the music that is found on \u003ci\u003ePomegranates\u003c\/i\u003e before I had seen the movie or was aware of its existence.\" He had created \"a weird collage of ambient music\" over about a two-year period.
