Lab Overview

Blazin' hot two-sided mean machine! Colemine Records is on point as always, putting more flamin' funk in your 45 trunk. The two cuts here by Jake Najor (drummer of The Sure Fire Soul Ensemble) are meant to be played LOUD. Both cuts feature members of the SFSE, but side A's "High Costa Living" features an appearance by west coast funk legend Mixmaster Wolf. "High Costa Living" is funked out of the park, a heavy heater that's on a James Brown level of raw intensity. The flip, "Grab A Soda" is more heat, an instrumental groove that's just as hot as the A-side. The drums are hella-warm - that nice analog, straight-to-tape sound - while the fuzzy guitars and sleazy horns give it that dynamite spunk. Reminds me of some of Drumetrics recordings. A deadly A / B combo that'll have DJ's coppin' doubles! Pressed onto limited edition orange vinyl. Recommended.
