Incredible live recording of the Godfather of Afrobeat on quadruple vinyl! Strut has teamed up with New York's Knitting Factory for the exclusive worldwide release of Live In Detroit 1986, the first new Fela Kuti material to be officially issued since his final studio album, 92's Underground System. The landmark show was part of Fela's first American tour alongside his final band, Egypt 80, recorded just a year after he was freed from Nigeria jail (on bogus accusations). Clocking in at just over 2 hours and a half, the recording is everything you'd ever want from a Fela show and essential listening for fans of the Afrobeat sound. Pressed on heavyweight vinyl over 4 LPs and housed in a handsome gatefold sleeve. Recommended.
