Fourth studio album from Los Angeles' Guns N' Roses. Use Your Illusion II was originally recorded between 1990 and 1991, and was released in tandem with Use Your Illusion I. The albums represented a turning point for Guns N' Roses' sound. There were still traces of the aggressive hard rock sound that they had become known for, but they brought in elements of blues, classical music, heavy metal, punk rock, and classic rock and roll. Drummer Steven Adler had been replaced by The Cult's Matt Sorum, which gave the rhythm of the band a completely different feel. Gone was Adler's sense of swing, as Sorum was a more straight ahead drummer. The band explored longer song structures, crafting epic ballads with many parts. Includes the songs: "Civil War," "You Could Be Mine," and the Bob Dylan cover, "Knockin' on Heaven's Door." Fourteen tracks in all. Released by Geffen Records on double vinyl with printed inner sleeves.
