The Sixty-One easily connects up to four turntables or CD players, with an additional Aux input for samplers, instruments or session input, and four more USB playback channels. MIDI controllers can be added with their functions mapped to Scratch Live. All controls on the Sixty-One are MIDI-mappable to software applications that support mapping.

The Sixty-One Mixer supports both analog and Digital Vinyl Simulation (DVS) playback. The mixer is bundled with Serato Scratch Live and includes ASIO and Core Audio drivers to use other audio programs. Two Serato Control Vinyl Records and two Serato Control CDs are included.

It Goes On 12"

Morgan Geist-produced house jam

Storm Queen follows up last years smash "Look Right Thu" with the hot sounds of "It Goes On(1)." The formula that made the first single a dancefloor hit remains the same, a retro-chic house beat (though more minimal this time) from Metro Area's Morgan Geist, with diva-man vocals from Damon C. Scott. It takes a bit for the all the synths to come in, but it's totally worth the wait cause when it finally drops, it hits the floor hard ("Oh yeah"!)! Vocal and Dub mixes included. Recommended.

MANUFACTURER'S REVIEW
The S-DJ05 Active Reference Monitoring Speakers are designed for DJing and music production. These speakers feature excellent sound quality, audio parameter control, built-in linear equalization and four switchable inputs, useful for DJs and producers who need to achieve the highest accuracy in musical reproduction. In addition, the S-DJ05 speakers offer users the ability to change settings such as sound characteristics and audio inputs via a unique manual controller.

Audio Quality
The compact speakers achieve a larger than normal listening area due to the use of a curved waveguide enclosure that directs the soft-dome tweeter’s sound in a wider pattern for better imaging and staging. This means more listeners across a larger area of a room can hear the higher frequencies than with traditional designs. Additionally, the Bass Reflex enclosure extends the lower frequency range to provide more mid-bass and bass output. In order to reproduce the highest quality audio possible, the speakers are also equipped with strong high-force magnets for better control of the subwoofers, a low resonance chimney-style heat sink and a bi-amp circuit that drives the tweeter and woofer separately.

Whether the speakers are utilized for DJing or producing music,the built-in linear equalizer provides further fine-tuning of sound for all listeners' tastes. The linear equalizer allows users to adjust the low and high bands from -6 dB to +6dB helping to enhance the tonal quality of instruments while producing music or recreate the low frequency sound of a club while DJing for a more realistic experience, important for critical listeners.

Control
Unique to Pioneer's DJ speakers, the included control accessory allows users to simultaneously operate the volume, power and four switchable input channels of both speakers. The dial style control knob also engages the equalizer and muting of both speakers.

Inputs and Extras
The S-DJ05 speakers feature four types of inputs (XLR, TRS and two sets of RCA) that let users connect various devices simultaneously, such as a computer, DJ equipment, portable device, etc. The various inputs eliminate the need to change cable connections so the speakers can be utilized with a broad variety of sources.

The speakers also feature an environmentally-friendly Auto Standby feature that automatically detects input signals and switches the standby mode when input is not detected within 60 minutes. For additional functionality, bottom screw holes were implemented for use with commercially available stands.

Shoes, one of the most creative editors around, revisits his afro-electro idea (remember "Afro-Perculator"), but this time, utilizes classic 90s IDM as the afro-foil. Some real music nerdery here mixing up Aphex Twin and Autechre with afrobeat, but it also takes a real music nerdus to pull it off properly... Highly interesting stuff that isn't just a gimmick, but some true music explorations. Highly recommended.

Secret Value 12"

tasteful house on clear 180g vinyl

Haven't heard from Linkwood in a few, but looks like he's still crankin' out the jams! The Secret Value 12" showcases Linkwood's rich and tasteful house production with 3 tracks that give us a taste of what's to come on his forthcoming debut LP on Firecracker. My favorite is "Ignorance Is Bliss(1)," a track that is rooted in classic Chicago vibes (a la Fingers Inc.), but fresh and modern at the same time. Check the emotive synths and no-nonsense acid line over expertly programmed drums. "Between Me & You(2)" shifts into Detroit mode with plenty of warm synths and flange effects over spaced out drums designed to capture the minds and bodies of those on the dancefloor. The title track(3) boasts a similar vibe, one that makes you feel like you're dancing in the clouds. Limited pressing on clear 180g vinyl, recommended.

Dunk's version of "Tan Sedan" is an instant party starter with big house rhythms carrying an underlying disco vibe. Already getting spins from Hot Chip, Soulclap, Jacques Renault and other big players. The Com Truise remix of "Throwdown" takes the tone down to a heavy head nod or chilled-out hip sway with heavy synths and crushing beats that set the backdrop for Harvey's vocals. Recommended.

Factory Floor
Two Different Ways 12"

industrial strength synths for the dancefloor

Factory Floor has been making waves in the underground scene for a minute (remixes/remixers include Optimo, Gavin Russom, Throbbing Gristle, and Joy Divison's Stephen Morris!), and now make their debut on DFA for their most dance-y release to date. Though FF often get the "post-industrial" label attached to them, "Two Different Ways(1)" has a minimalist house vibe that's squarely aimed for the dancefloor. Check the mesmerizing synth lines that drive the track with an old school acid house feel, while Nik Colk's haunting vocals breathe life into the groove. As the title states, the track is literally done in two different ways, and for the second way(2), Factory Floor flip the arrangement, going full force from the start for more of a driving instrumental feel. Recommended.

Superlife
Go Bananas (Peanut Butter Wolf, Steve Summers, Max D, Legowelt Remixes) 2LP

freaky proto-techno boogie, all-star remixes

Superlife's "Go Bananas(1)" is one hell of a record and easily the most anticipated PPU release to date. The track was originally recorded and released back in 1982 and is an extremely rare piece of party-starting proto-techno from Detroit. Think "Share Vari" but even more freaky and robotic and you're on the right track! As the story goes, Danan Potts (aka Superlife) was hanging around the Recording Institute of Detroit where Juan Atkins was training in production. Danan was interested in Atkin's style of dance music and quickly recorded "Go Bananas". Bananas was released locally on Southern Sun Records in hyper limited quantity, it is today one of the most sought after underground detroit techno recordings of all time. Get it here on double 12" with the original instrumental, PLUS a gang of new version from today's top talent including Peanut Butter Wolf(2), Steve Summers(3), Legowelt(4), and Max D(5)! Recommended.

The latest in Madlib's Medicine Show series, Filty Ass Remixes, contains Raw Medicine: Madlib Remixes (#12) and Black Tape (#13), which Stones Throw will be releasing as a full-length CD edition. It's created for the Medicine Show Tour, and along with dusty remixes from the mad professor for the likes of Inspectah Deck, Raekwon, AZ, and a slew of other big and small - but on point - emcees, you get ten tracks from the upcoming addition to what was initially supposed to be a 12-part music series (we're not complaining). The covers are one-of-a-kind featuring artwork by Jeff Jank and Gustavo Eandi (silk screened by Hit+Run), and the vinyl is limited to 1000 copies only. Total running time is 37 minutes, highly recommended.

Luxury rap from hip-hop/pop-culture royalty featuring luxury packaging in the form of gold embossed, cross shaped vinyl jacket (designed by Ricardo Tisci of Givenchy. This highly anticipated collaboration from Kanye and Jay-z is two of music's richest artists talking about the finer things of life over instrumentals by the RZA, Pete Rock, Q-tip, Swizz Beats, No I.D., Lex Luger, the Neptunes, Mike Dean, Ye' himself, and more. Recorded in London, Abu Dhabi, Sydney, Paris, and New York, Watch The Throne is flat out GOOD. On the music side, the album takes after My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy as orchestral and progressive rock influences create many dramatic, unconventional moments. As far as lyrics are concerned, Jay and Kanye trade, for the most part, sharp braggadocio verses that focus on "opulence, fame, materialism, power, and the burdens of success." Some have complained that the album focuses too heavily on the aforementioned themes, but the truth is, these dudes really are super rich and successful... so why shouldn't they talk about their good lives? "HAM(1)" and "Niggas in Paris(2)" are the standout club/radio bangers… For other picks, check out "No Church In The Wild(3)," "Lift Off(4)," "Made In America(5)," "The Joy(6)," "Otis(7)," "Welcome To The Jungle(8)," and "New Day(9)" aka the "me and the RZA connect" song. Guest artists include Frank Ocean, Beyonce, Curtis MAyfield, and Mr. Hudson, and as mentioned above, the 2LP (pic disc with Jay-Z and Kanye West images) album comes packaged in gold-embossed jacket. A 24" x 24" poster is included, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Nirobi Edits (Soho, Paul McCartney) 12"

eclectic soulful edits, pick!

Top notch edits from Nirobi aka Robert Luis. For those unfamiliar, this dude is the A&R and co-founder of Tru Thoughts Recordings and his selection here is outstanding - the perfect balance of tracks that are diverse, eclectic, funky (as you'd expect from a man with his credentials) and sure to set the dancefloor off on the good foot. Nirobi kicks off the EP with an edit of the dancefloor classic "Hot Music(1)" by Soho, updated with rap verses from EPMD and Missy and spliced with an extended intro and outro featuring the original sample source by Wynton Marsalis. Worth the price of admission with that edit alone, but you also get the the super soulful grooves of Kick "Al" Anchum's "Farther Up The Road(2)," an extended version of St. Tropez "Hold On To Love(3)" (as sampled on Cee-Lo's "I Want You), and an edit of Paul McCartney's quirky downtempo jam "Check My Machine(4)." Easy recommendation.

exotic, colorful new school beats album

Come peruse Collections 01, a menagerie of songs from Teebs on the Brainfeeder label. Like a cluster of exotic birds, anthology of short stories or secret case of sparkling gemstones, Collections 01 further explores the world expressed in Teebs' previous album Ardour from several new perspectives. While drawing from the universe of Ardour, Collections 01 is more varied with more samples, each song containing specific elements that give it a unique character. Featuring tracks with harpist Rebekah Raff and Brainfeeder cohort Austin Peralta, the album offers a range of sentiment, always elegantly displayed. From hypnotic, dust-covered beats and languid daydreams to cascading shuffles and bright bursts of color, this beautiful collection is a further glimpse into the world behind the mind's eye of Teebs, painter of sound. Recommended.

Twirligig LP

textured, experimental, and catchy psych-pop

Jonti is a multi-instrumentalist, arranger, producer, and vocalist making his splendid debut on Stones Throw. The album is influenced by the Australia-based artist's favorites: Madlib, Stereolab, Free Design and The Beach Boys (a sweet combination!). Cartoonist / filmmaker Norma Mclaren was also a huge inspiration, as Jonti explains "his films are complex, but they're still fun. You can feel his enthusiasm for techniques and experimentation." Tracks like "Firework Spraying Moon(1)," "Twirligig(2)," "Snickers Hiss(3)," "Spooky Sport(4)," "Solar Smoking Dogs(5)," and "Hornets Nest(6)" are based on the aforementioned "complex-but-fun" paradigm, making the album very accessible, but with plenty of intricate textures and layers for listeners to explore. Cool psychedelic patterns on the cover too. Recommended.

Double A-side featuring two prime Daft Punkn sample sources on 7"! Everyone will recognize the mean funkin' drums and synths from Breakwater's "Release The Beast(1)" as "Robot Rock," but you might turn some heads in the crowd when it breaks down into the raw funk of the original. Likewise on Edwin Birdsong's "Cola Bottle Baby(2)," the source material for "Harder Better Stronger Faster." Recommended.

Shogun Assassin OST (GZA, Liquid Swords) LP

rare cosmic synth breaks as sampled by RZA

Here it is! The highly sought-after soundtrack to the legendary cult film Shogun Assassin. Most heads will recognize these sounds from the GZA's Liquid Swords as RZA procured many prime breaks and samples off it, but the history behind the soundtrack is even deeper than that. As the story goes, this OST was never officially released on vinyl - only a very small amount of copies were pressed up for promotional purposes which is why originals are so scarce. Mark Lindsay handled the production here, but most of the compositions were made by W. Michael Lewis of Rinder & Lewis fame. Put the cosmic disco sensibilities of Lewis with the wide use of the Moog synthesizer and you've got an amazing soundstrack to one bad-ass movie. This reissue stays true to the original with carefully reproduced artwork and labels. Recommended.

Tag List Function
Equipped with an editable Tag List functionality, users of the player can easily register tracks during play or preview to add to their playlist queue. The song order in the Tag List can be altered and saved as a playlist in rekordbox.

Skematic Tracks Vol. 1 EP

dirty electro disco house

In Flagranti switch up it up a bit on the first volume of their Skematics Tracks series. Though they are best known for their dirty disco style, these tracks find the In Flagranti exploring uncharted zones of looped up electro jack, and funky schitzo house. Check "Paroxysm(1)" that seamlessly fuses abstract vocal chops, jackin' drums and flipped detroit style chords and the heavy bumps of "Aspiration(2)." "Consumer Goods(3)" is more familiar IF style, an infectious disco loop topped with dirty effects for freaky late night excursions on the dancefloor. Good to see the dudes venturing in new directions while still retaining that signature In Flagranti grit.
