Populette
Mommy (Harkin And Raney Remix) 12"
new disco and house
Moody new disco from Throne Of Blood's newest duo, Populette (aka Max Pask and Andrew Potter). Both Pask and Potter are veterans of NYC's disco and house scene, and you can tell that they've earned their credentials when you listen to "Mommy(1)." The response is "Daddy(2)," a spacey disco cut that leans a bit more towards the quirky side than its A-side counterpart. Eamon Harkin and Steve Raney, the two DJs behind NYC's legendary Mr. Saturday Night party, put a chicago house vibe down with their remix of "Mommy(3)," while TBD (aka Lee Douglas and Justin V of !!!/Outhud) turn it into a warehouse shaking house cut. Excellent work all around, recommended.

ZeRO SL MKII MIDI Controller
robust controller with intuitive automap
OVERVIEW
Updated version of the popular the Remote Zero SL. The MKII is a robust controller that combines the features of a drum pad controller and a slider/knob controller with a huge and informative backlit display system (displays control information to user). In addition, the Zero SL MKII also features intuitive plug-in mapping thanks to Automap 3 PRO and advanced software control.
FEATURES
The Zero SL MKII features a huge array of touch-sensitive controls - broken down into 8 Encoders (Infinite Rotation) with touch-sensitivity and 11 segment Led rings, 8 Pots (270 Rotation) with touch-sensitivity, 8 60mm Sliders with touch-sensitivity, 32 Buttons with integrated LEDs (37 in MIDI mode), 8 soft feel Trigger pads, and a crossfader - giving you total control on stage or in the studio. There is also a giant 144-character ultra-bright LCD screen that displays all the parameter names and values for the currently selected row of controllers. All 8 faders and 16 knobs are touch sensitive, so the moment one is touched, the display shows the names and values on that row and puts brackets around the controller that is currently being touched. This enables the user to see which parameter is assigned to the controller without having to change the value, or refer to their software. ZeRO SL Mk II also has a dedicated 'Speed Dial' knob, which can be used to change the value of any parameter the cursor is positioned over without making any assignments whatsoever (as seen on the Nocturn). In addition, SL Mk II comes with Automap 3 Pro software which enables you to instantly and intelligently map software parameters to faders, buttons, encoders and pots and other controllers, eliminating all mapping headaches as well as a free software bundle with loops, soft synths and Ableton Live 7 Lite. USB powered.
Upgrades from ReMOTE ZeRO SL:
- Mk II ships with the latest Automap 3 PRO
- All dials and faders are now touch-sensitive
- All ZeRO SL Mk IIâ™s buttons are illuminated
- Mk II features a single LED screen (as it now features the Automap Heads-up GUI)
- ZeRO SL Mk IIâ™s top row of dials have 11-LED rings for instant feedback
- Top row of encoders are now smooth continuous rotary encoders, and the bottom row are pots with 270 rotation.
- ZeRO SL Mk IIâ™s transport control buttons can also be used as fully assignable buttons.
- There is now a crossfader on the ZeRO SL Mk II
- ZeRO SL Mk II features new 'soft-feel' drum pads.
- No longer features batteries

Gonjasufi
A Sufi And A Killer (Gaslamp Killer, Mainframe, Flying Lotus) 2LP
anticipated psych-hop debut album produced by GLK
Gonjasufi drops his debut album The Sufi And A Killer on the highly respected Warp label. Lab heads out there hardly need an introduction to his spaced-out, psych-hop styles (which recently got Best New Music on that trident-shaped site by the way) as the 7" singles that preceded have all but sold out. Together with Gaslamp Killer on beats (as well as a few guest beats by LA's finest - Flying Lotus and Mainframe), Gonjasufi transports you to a realm of tripped out lyrics, cryptic chants and psychedelic beat stew. The album starts off with a strange soundscapes that break into the "Kobwebz(1)" to set you on the right astral plane, then kicks into the Flylo-produced "Ancestors(2)" with its heavy sitar bump. By now you are in the proper headspace to appreciate the soft melodies of "Sheep(3)" and conversely, distorted rock of "She Gone(4)" and "SuzieQ(5)" that highlight Sufi's vocal range. Check the highly smoked out groove of "Kowboyz&Indians(6)," the slo-mo gangster funk of "Change(7)," "Duet(8)," the sampled boogie funk goodness of "Candylane(9)," "Holidays(10)" and "Klowds(11)." There's certainly a lot of material to wrap your head around on this album, making it perfect for repeated listens (as well as repeated smoke sessions). Recommended.

Neckface
The Devil Made Me Do It Book
monograph from twisted artist
Neck Face's second book shows why everyone still sweats him. It's impressive to see the progression this guy has made in his art, both in technique and intensity. It just seems a matter a time before he takes his show to video / film, paper and objects can't hold him down. This 156 page book features Neck Face's drawings, paintings, installations, sculptures, random photography, self-portrait series, pee-ing on toilet paper series, and much more. Highly recommended.

The Drunk
Islay Edits 12" w/ FREE Bonus 7"
top shelf disco edits, pick
American Standard has been responsible for some of the Lab's best selling edit records of all time (remember that Cole Medina 12" they put out in 2008?), and they're back again with the mysterious Drunk who drops more edit heat for the discerning disco DJ. The Drunk has been silent for some time now (his last record being released on Rong some 5 years ago), but he returns with a bang on this 12" + 7" combo pack. Nothin' but floor filling disco juice on the uptempo "Lagaluvin (1)" and the dirty drunken vocal stomper "Bowmore(2)." Flipside shifts gears and gets into some seriously grown and sexy grooves on "Ardberg(3)" that kills it with slumpy bass and sick synthesizer touches. Also includes a one sided 7" with another boogie groove(4).
Recommended.

Tittsworth & Ayres
Bustin' Loose CD
unmixed bmore, house, hip hop and dubstep
Yet another unmixed compilation from one of our favorite labels: T&A. If you're a regular browser of the site, you're probably familiar with the bass-heavy club sounds that these guys love so much. There's several already-huge tracks on here from Dave Nada & Rob Threezy, but there's also several new heaters. DJ Ayres contributes "Got Me Gone," a slow rap track featuring Chicago rapper GLC, and that gets remixes from big names like Nick Catchdubs and Udachi. Steve Starks drops a bomb with "Lydia," which is a wild, horn sample based track that also receives its share of remix attention. New comer Nacey also squeezes in here, with his dancey hip hop track "Work For This." The total damage here is 18 tracks, plenty to catch up on if you've been sleeping T&A's more recent releases. Recommended.
