This works well for cleaning all of your electrical connections and adapters. For DJ equipment maintenance, the deoxit pen works with all the important connections: rca's, fader wire connections, and especially (and the main reason we got this) for tonearm-headshell connections.

Not getting sound out of one channel? We don't guarnatee this will fix it, but in most cases of build-up it will. Licking the connections on your headshell/cartridge is a good quick fix, but it actually leads to more build-up. If you ever tried to clean the inside the tone-arm prongs with a toothpick, you know why this is a blessing. The tip works just like a chisel point marker and fits effectively into the tonearm socket for easy cleaning.

Shure's mixing cartridge, specifically designed for house & techno DJs. The M35X builds upon the M35S foundation with improvements in both output and skip resistance. The output has been raised to 6.0mV and Shure lists these as their "most accurate" dj cartridge. According to Shure, it even rivals the Ortofon line in terms of its reproduction for bass, mids and treble. The M44G offers a unique balance of skip resistance and sound quality. For scratching, the performance is very similar to that of the M447, slightly less skip resistant with the same low record wear. However, the M44G offers a more balanced output with better overall sound quality. The output of the M44G is quite a bit lower than the M447, but still comes in at a hefty 6.2mV. The qualities stated make this an excellent choice for club djs.

Long before Shure became recognized for their exceptional DJ cartridges, their phono reputation was built on audiophile cartridges. Their top of the line, the V15VxMR is world famous for its extremely accurate sound reproduction and standout, ultra low record wear. That model costs about $350. For people demanding a high quality audio cartridge for either listening or recording, the M97xE offers many of the same qualities at much more manageable price. This cartridge offers accurate reproduction that can't be found in dj cartridges, particularly in the high frequency range, precise tracking ability (much lower record wear than a dj cartridge) and a flat frequency response. It also features a "dynamic stabilizer," which maintains a uniform distance between the cartridge and the record under difficult playing conditions, such as those caused by warped records, or mismatched tonearm mass. Just to be clear, the M97xE is recommended for listening or recording/sampling purposes only, it is not designed or recommended for dj use.

SC35C Cartridge

The SC35C is Shure's classic workhorse, a highly durable cartridge with skip-resistance comparable to the M44G. Before the 44 series came out, everyone was using these and many hip hop djs still swear by them. The sound quality is about the same as the 447 (heavy on bass response), with an output of 5.0mV. They are a bit more rugged than the M44 series, but they also put more wear on your records. An excellent beginner to intermediate choice.

Whitelabel Cartridge

OVERVIEW
Shure's entry into the concorde-style cartridge market. This is the first real competition we've seen to the dominant Ortofon line. The White Label is aimed specifically at today's hybrid club deejays, combining the high grade sound quality demanded for club use with Shure's legendary scratch ability and low record wear. From our testing, we've found that the sound quality is comparable to the Ortofon DJ (blue)cartridge, with an output at 6.0mV, great skip resistance, and a low tracking force for minimal record wear. The white label also makes several new improvements over other concorde-style cartridges. It is the first concord-style cartridge that allows you to adjust stylus overhang (useful for setting up on different turntables), and according to Shure, they have also developed a reliable electrical connection for the part that plugs into your tonearm. This should eliminate the eventual poor connection that may occurs with other concorde-style cartridges. For straight scratching, the M447 is still number one in terms of skip resistance, but the White Label is an excellent combination of club sound quality and scratch ability.

OVERVIEW
Stanton's new, entry level cartridge which boasts an extremely high output for something in this price range: 10mV, which is about the same as a high end Ortofon. Pretty impressive. It also comes with Stanton's mark of durability (they really do make the most rugged cartridges on the market), which makes this an easy choice for beginners. It comes with a spherical stylus, so scratching is not a problem although the high tracking force will wear your records a bit. You can't beat this for the money though.

This newest version has balanced that famous club sound quality with more modern dj performance so that it not only sounds great, but can also do everything you need (scratch, back cue, etc). Part of the reason for this is the spherical stylus (better for scratching) that the 680 now uses, but it's also due to the 680's extremely forgiving suspension. It was designed for abusive use in club situations- which means wobbly tables, uneven turntables, bumping, etc- and this translates just as well to scratching. The sound specs have not changed at all, and it still offers a wide frequency response at 20Hz to 18kHz and big 7.0mV output. Recommended for club use for their sound quality, reliability, and ruggedness.
