OVERVIEW
The SA-3 is Stanton's mid-level two channel mixer, designed with the scratch and hip hop user in mind. It features all of the requirements that scratch djs have come to expect in higher-end mixers, such as reverse and curve control on all faders, plus quite a few useful additions, at a very competitive sub $200 cost.
FEATURES
The SA-3 includes all the features that hip hop & scratch dj's need in a 2 channel mixer. These include curve adjustment and reverse control for all three faders, a mic input with gain and mute control, master / cue monitoring (you can scratch in the headphones), and rotatable phono / line switches. A major plus is the layout which is clean and intuitive with no unwanted clutter. The crossfader isn't as high performance as the Penny & Giles fader on more expensive Stanton mixers, but it is much more durable, clean and precise than Stanton's regular crossfaders. The features that set it apart from most similarly priced mixers are a powerful 3 band eq (-26/+9 db), ¼" balanced outputs in addition to standard RCA outs, dual headphone jacks for both plug sizes, and mute switches for both the headphones and the master output.
OUR OPINION
For this price range, The SA-3 is one of the most solid mixers available for under $200. It's a great choice for beginner to intermediate level scratch and hip hop djs, with everything you'll need to get going & progress.
