Allen & Heath has been making large strides in the dj/club mixer market for the last couple years, first gaining attention with their big multi-channel, multi-function mixers. Their mixers have gained a reputation for exceptionally sturdy construction, excellent sound quality and features that have been developed through close interaction with djs. The Xone 02 is their first 2 channel mixer, designed with the hip hop/battle dj in mind.

The Xone 02 comes equipped with a Penny & Giles crossfader and VCA faders for the channel faders. All three faders feature curve control and reverse buttons on the front panel. Both channels feature independent level controls for the phono/line input so you can quickly switch between CD and phono inputs without worrying about drastic level changes. The 3 band eqs are on sliders, and range from +8db boost to a full kill at –26db. It also has two microphone inputs with 3 band eq, effects send & return assignable to both channels, and a reverse button for the channels. There are two outputs available- the master with XLR outs, and the booth or link output with RCA outs. Audio Innovate
AEM-100i Mixer
NOTE: Due to voltage issues, this mixer will only work for US customers ONLY. Please take note if you are a foreign customer.
OVERVIEW
This is the newly updated AEM100i featuring the long-awaited Innofader and a sleek new faceplate. The third version of the AEM100i replaces the Pro X Fader with the Innofader for the most advanced crossfader performance. The Innofader is a top notch non-contact fader that boasts super smooth performance and NO BLEEDING OR CRACKING EVER with no cleaning required. As with the previous version, this mixer also features high quality built-in effects, curve adjustable up faders, and powerful 3-band EQ. A solid mixer all around and especially useful for scratch and battle DJs.
FEATURES
The built-in effects and Innofader Crossfader are what really set this mixer apart. Firstly, there are separate effects controls for each channel, which is a step up in itself as you have to assign effects to one channel or the master on most mixers with effects. It also includes a cue to preview the effect before initializing. The effects include a white noise generator, a square oscillator with different knobs for pitch and gain, a stutter effect, digitize effect, phaser effect, and a band-pass/band-cut for high and low pass filters. The white noise generator is great when used with the oscillator, which produces striking synth effects that can be controlled by the oscillator pitch and gain knobs. The "stutter" function chops the sound in different frequencies that can range from slow to rapid. The "digitize" function effects the sound of your record so that it has a low bit feel, giving it that grungy sound, while the phaser provides classic sweeping effects. There is also a dry/wet fader controlling how much of the effect is in the mix.
As for the fader, the Innofader is setting up to be the new standard for high performance crossfaders. With smooth non-contact performance for no bleeding and cracking ever without cleaning, precision output, ultra wide range for tension adjustment, super adjustable curve and single cut-in adjustment for both sides. The fader also features an incredibly sturdy design with an 8mm stem (rather than 4mm on a lot of other faders) and long body type that will hold together for years of aggressive use with out breaking. This fader is shaping up to become the top choice for scratch and hip-hop DJs who demand long-life and smooth performance.
The standard features here are solid. It features a powerful 3 band slider EQ for each channel, capable of completely cutting out low, mid or high frequencies. Each channel is switchable between phono/line/aux, with separate RCA inputs for each on the back. The AEM100 has balanced master XLR outputs, an option which can noticeably improve your sound quality, plus standard RCA master outs, RCA booth outs and RCA record outs. The AEM100i also includes two 1/4 headphone outputs, a 1/8 headphone outputs, and two 1/4 mic inputs, and crossfader reverse switch.
OUR OPINION
The third version of the AEM100i is a great improvement on an already great mixer. With the inclusion of the Innofader and the sleek new red and black faceplate, this mixer provides a considerably better user experience for fader-heavy DJs and looks more attractive too. As for Audio Innovate mixers, we have yet to hear anything negative about them, and customers who have bought the AEM100 are very pleased with their purchase, especially the effects.

Ecler
HAK 360 Mixer
OVERVIEW
An updated version of Ecler's successful HAK 320, this mixer improves upon it in one major way: a brand new long-life magnetic crossfader with the sharpest cut-in time we've ever seen. Noy only does It have the sharpest curve, it also has the smoothest feel of any magnetic fader we've tested. We'd place it somewhere in between the tighter Rane 56 fader and the extrememly loose Stanton Focus Fader.
1) The crossfader is near incredible. First of all, it operates on a no-contacts magnetic basis, similar to the fader used in Rane's TTM 56, and should last much longer than any VCA fader like the ones found in Vestax mixers. It also has a unique feature, a micro-control curve adjustment in addition to the regular curve adjustment control, which allows you to adjust the fader's cut-in time down to almost nothing. Just nudge it and both channels are on. This is only an option: full curve fade for mixing is still available. Plus the crossfader has a full warranty for 5 years (save money).
2) Like the HAK 320, the 360 offers a functional set of features for hip hop and battle deejays including a session input with level control, strong 3 channel eqs, mic input and assignable external effects for both channels.
Verdict: Pluses
Quality, feel, and warranty of the crossfader. We have yet to have any problems with any of the Ecler mixers we've sold. Clean layout and high-end features (3 band eq and effects processors).
Verdict: Minuses
The only thing holding the Ecler back is it's lack of a household name. The price may seem a bit steep, but this could easily be recouped by not having to buy a new fader for the next 5 years.

Numark
DXM01-USB Mixer
OVERVIEW
Numark's entry level mixer, and the only truly digital mixer at this price range. It includes all the necessary features usually found on higher priced models including 3-band eq for each channel, quality faders, cross fader curve and reverse controls, and a master output headphone preview.
The DMX01 also features some impressive digital features. Firstly, the 24 bit digital sound processor offers quality output with no additional noise (most mixers emit a level of hiss) for a cleaner sound. The DMX01 also features Numark's D-Type digital fader, the same one found on the higher priced PPD-01. Although it is not the top fader on the market, it's comfortably above average in terms of smoothness and durability.
Lastly, what makes this mixer unique at this price range are the strong EQs, capable of "killing" each channel (ie. removing the bass/treble/mid from a song). In addition, there is a separate Sub Bass control that allows you to increase the intensity of the bass channel even further.
Overall, this is an excellent mixer for beginner and intermediate users. With the addition of the USB ports, we would recommend this any level dj who wants computer connectivity. A lot of value for your money here.
USB UPDATE: The DMX01 has been updated with dual USB ports. With the USB input, you can mix songs played by your computer. With the USB output you can record your mixes (or any input on the computer) into your computer (recording software needed). All file formats are accepted and no drivers are needed.

DXM06 Mixer
This is a variation of Numark's entry level DXM01 mixer equipped with a powerful digital effects unit. The basic functions and construction are basically identical to DXM01with 24 bit digital sound, 3 band eq with kill switches, and a digital crossfader. Otherwise the main reason to consider this mixer is the effects unit. It features 12 effects with BPM tap control (allows you to synch the effects to any song). Additional effects controls include wet/dry control (controls intensity of effect), and an illuminated effects selector. For basic additional info please refer to the DXM01 review.
The effects are split up into channel effects and mic/aux effects. The six channel effects are 2x copy (doubler), tape echo, echo, flanger, phaser, and filter. The six mic/aux effects are vocoder, tape echo, echo, reverb 1, reverb 2, and limit+distort.

DXM09 Mixer
The DXM09 is Numark's mid-level 3 channel mixer with built in effects. Like Numark's higher priced mixers, the DXM09 features 100% digital circuitry which provides the lowest noise (audio hum and static) possible. Built-in look-ahead peak limiting also prevents clipping and ensures the cleanest output signal at all times.
The on-board effects gives you the ability to effect individual channels or the master output with 12 different effects. Personalize those effects with tap button (establishes the timing of the effect), beat sync, and mix intensity (wet/dry). The DXM09 is also equipped with a premium crossfader with curve control, and strong 3 band channel EQs with kill switches. RCA and balanced 1/4" outputs are also a big plus.
3 channel mixer with effects is a rare, but very useful configuration for mixers. The 3 channels allows for input flexibility, and the effects are just plain fun. Include the 100% digital circuitry and excellent price point, and the DXM09 is in a class by itself.

DXMPRO Mixer
OVERVIEW
Numark has retooled its popular PPD-01 mixer for the hip-hop/scratch dj. They've stripped away the effects and installed new long-life digital conductive polymer faders (CP-PRO). The DXMPro is also 100% digital, processing high quality 24-bit digital sound with no hiss or added noise. The DXM features useful digital features like infinity-kill 3 band EQs, balanced outs, digital outs (Optical& Coaxial), and accurate peak meter with the ability to look-ahead on master output to avoid sound clipping.
OUR OPINION
With its sleek design and digital design, the DXM is an excellent choice who want to something other than your traditional hip-hop mixer. At this price range, it favors comparably to similar Vestax and Rane models.

It features everything you need for standard DJing (3-band EQ, kill switches, digital crossfader) plus lots more at a very affordable price. And for any DJ who values the fidelity and precision of their records, CDs, or digital files, X6 employs a 100%-digital signal path with Alesis technology for great sound quality.
FEATURES
This 24-bit mixer faithfully transmits every detail and nuance of your music adding zero distortion and zero noise. Each channel features a switchable phono/line input and an additional line input, three-band EQ, and three-band push-button Kills. A 1/4" mic input channel also has a line input for further flexibility. The mic channel contains dedicated gain, EQ, and silent on/off controls.
X6 kicks your mixes up a notch with twelve 24-bit advanced, assignable, digital BEAT SYNC effects: Vocoder, Tape Echo, Echo, Flanger, Phaser, Filter, two type of Reverbs, and more, all sync to the beat or your tap input. You can hit the beat perfectly as you fade in Tape Echo and give a shoutâ"out with the Vocoder. X6 also has a D-Type digital crossfader with reverse and slope-controls, as well as mini-crossfader cueing, and balanced 1/4" outs for professional, reliable connection.
OUR OPINION
If you want digital effects available on your mixer, but don't want to shell out money for a Pioneer, this is a good buy. The sound quality isn't as high as a Pioneer or Rane, but it does a good job with the 12 on board effects. The kill switches and digital fader are a nice touch too, and you won't find anything like it for this price.

Pioneer
DJM-400 Mixer
OVERVIEW
With the DJM-400, Pioneer has finally made a mid-range mixer that incorporates some of their famous on-board effects, in-demand features and the general style of the popular DJM-600 and 500 mixers. The DJM-400 is like a streamlined DJM-600 with two channels, but it also has quite a few unique features including Pioneer's new in-loop sampler, kills on the 3 band equalizer and a completely digital 24bit/96Khz mixing bus.
FEATURES
In terms of basic mixer functions, the DJM-400 is geared towards mix DJs and is set up in standard fashion. There are 2 phono/line RCA inputs, 2 CD RCA inputs with fader start connection, 2 master RCA outputs, and 2 ¼" mic inputs. The crossfader feels similar to the one used in the DJM-500 and DJM-600, but it has been improved for both scratching and durability. The crossfader curve is adjustable with a three position switch, and while it doesn't feature the razor sharp cut that scratch djs demand these days, you can definitely scratch with it and the curve is much sharper than the 600 or 500. In comparison to previous Pioneer mixers, the eq's have been pumped up considerably and now offer a full kill on all three bands (the trim also goes down to kill). The 2 mic channels each have separate level controls with a mic master eq (lo/hi) and an on/off/talkover switch (talkover is activated when you speak into the mic, then all other sound is taken down 20db). The headphone cueing offers all the necessary options for monitoring: both channels and the master output can either be heard on their own, or in any combination (ie: when both channel 1 and master are on, you hear channel 1 in the left headphone and the master in the right).
The digital 24bit/96Khz mixing bus is the platform that sets the DJM-400 apart from other mixers in this price range. Not only does it process the sound cleanly and provide an excellent signal for users of digital equipment like Serato and Final Scratch, it also gives the DJM-400 enough power to do all the "intelligent" things like count BPMs, auto synch effects on-beat, run the sampler and more. The effects are the classic set of Delay, Echo, Flanger, Filter, and Phaser plus a couple new ones- Robot and Roll. They are assignable to channel 1, channel 2, mic, or master and are controlled with a depth knob, beat variables (1/1, 2/1, 4/1, etc) and 2 pitch control buttons (+/-). The effects are automatically synched up with your music when you engage the BPM counter.
The sampler is something we haven't seen before. Pioneer calls it the "in-loop sampler" and it allows you to automatically loop up 4 beats of a song for on the fly remixes and mashups. In other words, you can set it to record on a drum break or whatever you want, the sampler cleanly grabs 4 beats (note: beats, not bars), then loops them up and stores them in the bank buttons. The time is not variable- it will grab 4 beats whether the song in question is 150bpm or 30bpm- but through messing with your sample points and using the tap-in bpm counter you can actually get pretty creative and do more with it than you'd think. You can also use it to record beatless samples, noises, and acapellas but the playback will still be looped. Playback functions the same way as the effects: you can assign your sample/loop to any channel (ch.1, ch. 2, mic, or main) and control the tempo through the pitch buttons and the volume through the depth knob. There are 5 different banks to store loops, with a total of up to 12 seconds sampling time.
OUR OPINION
There's no question that the Pioneer DJM-400 offers an awful lot in a relatively small and inexpensive package. The sound quality will be great across the board, even the loops are run through the 24bit/96Khz mixing bus so there is no loss of quality or noticeable downgrade from the source. The effects are always fun, and with the right touch they can make your set that much better. And the in-loop sampler is something we could see being a really useful tool for many DJs. It's unfortunate that Pioneer didn't take it a step further and include the great crossfader that was used in their DJM-707 and 909 mixers, but for anybody who isn't heavily into scratching, this mixer offers plenty room to maneuver and quite a lot to play with. It also comes at a price point that will get you into the big boy club mixer world without having to spend $1000 or more.

DJM-909 Mixer
OVERVIEW
The DJM-909 Pioneer is the new high end standard for the fully featured 2 channel mixer category. For the 909, Pioneer has taken the 3 most popular features of the DJM600 dance mixer (effects, quality sound, strong EQs), unveiled some revolutionary features (tension adjustable optical fader, touch screen), and added a powerful, built-in effects unit. In addition, Pioneer has introduced a new layout and controls, making it user-friendly across the board from house djs to hip-hop djs. This is a truly ground breaking mixer.
The crossfader of the Pioneer features a new exclusive technology that allows you to tighten and loosen the tension of the fader without removing any parts. To make adjustments, just take the included tool, put it in the small hole next to the fader, and turn either way. This way, djs can put the tension at loose for scratching, then switch to a tighter tension for mixing, all on the fly. In addition, you can adjust the fader curve and crossfader cut lag (precise cut-in time control) using the control knobs with the curve displayed on the screen. The actual feel and construction of the crossfader is very solid, comparable to Rane's optical fader in the TTM-56.
Touch Screen Control and Effects Unit
This is a first for any mixer. The touch screen control is used to control the powerful effects unit of the 909. There are 50 different effects with BPM control (synch your effects to a beat), plus several effects that you can assign to the faders (click here for full list of effects). Each channel has 3 memory banks that can each hold up to 3 saved effects, all controllable through the touch screen. You can also adjust several individual aspects of each effect by pressing the FX ADJ button and using the touch screen. Additional effects controls include mix depth (effects intensity) knob, BPM tap buttons, and a spring loaded effects on/off switch with lock option. External effects can be controlled with an effects send/receive with effect depth controls. Any effect can be previewed in headphones by switching to EFFECT preview. The 909 also allows you to plug in a footswitch to control any of the effects.
Quality Sound and Layout
Pioneer mixers are most known for their club quality sound, and their strong, clean EQs. The 909 keeps these qualities intact with high quality sound processing (20hz-20khz response and low noise and distortion rate), powerful 3 band EQ (-26dB to +6dB), and both RCA and XLR outputs. The layout, although it may seem cluttered with features, is actually quite functional. The fader area is very clean, and the controls are laid out very intuitively. Like the DJM600, the feel of the rotary knobs is excellent, loose enough for quick kills, but with a solid feeling at the same time. Pioneer even got smaller details correct, like the mini-fader for cue control, and flash (spring loaded) switches for the effects on/off.
Additional Features
In addition to the revolutionary features mentioned above, the 909 has close to every useful feature we've seen in the mixer market: BPM counter, reinforced headphone jacks, master + channel LED display, mic channel with 2 band EQ, headphone master preview, fader reverse and curve adjustment for all 3 faders, trigger capabilities for Pioneer CDJ CD turntables, EQ on/off switch, session in/out, booth out with separate level, and more.
Our Opinion
This mixer comes at a hefty price tag, built for the consumer that truly wants it all. We can't justify the price or all the features here to every customer, but we can tell you that this mixer has the most features we've seen in one unit, it is well built, sounds great, and is very functional. It is potentially the best two channel mixer available. The effects unit is truly a key feature because it is fully integrated into the mixer and allows much more flexibility and control than using a Kaoss pad. The touch pad seems like overkill, but once you've used it, you'll realize how it makes using effects easier. The crossfader, at initial testing, is excellent in all aspects, however the volume faders feel like PCV rather than optical (the one apparent weakness). In conclusion, this is definitely for the high-end dj with a big budget. We think you'll be ultimately satisfied with the purchase, because the 909 looks and functions like it costs- and that's a good thing.

Rane
Empath Mixer - Black
OVERVIEW
Rane's answer to the multi-function dilemma. Their goal here was to create a club mixer flexible enough for any type of DJ, in any setting, without taking up a lot of space. After preliminary testing, Rane has achieved all those goals.
1) Keeping to the 10" format, Rane has made the most versatile mixer in this range. If you've used a conventional, wide format club mixer, then you will understand why this is such an advancement.
2) Works with any sound system, club and home, anywhere in the world. A universal, 100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz internal power supply allows using the mixer anywhere in the world without adapters; XLR, TRS or RCA connections eliminates mismatching plugs; and there are even 2 headphone jacks to accommodate 1/8" and 1/4" plugs.
3) Sound. We stand by that Rane's have the best sound. And to ensure this quality Rane has included 2 key features:
1. Auto Gain feature automatically adjusts sound when switching sources. The sound will never be too quiet or clipped.
2. Full cut, accelerated slope EQs, the best available.
3. New Penny & Giles faders. All 4 faders are the P&G, quickly becoming the industry high-end standard.
4. Extras. The Empath features many innovations not found on other mixers:
a. Assignable CD triggers work with any CD player.
b. Two band headphone EQ.
c. Effects processors assignable to all 3 channels plus mic.
d. Four function Level meters read stereo cue, stereo master mix, split cue, or main output.
Verdict: Pluses
Sound quality, Rane construction, multiple features, simplicity of use. This is definitely the easiest, most intuitive 3 channel mixer we've tested. Although we have not tried this in a club system situation, based on Rane's track record, we can conclude that it is top of the line.
Verdict: Minuses
No true weaknesses. Price is high, but reasonable for a full featured club mixer. Battle DJs might find the face to be to cluttered.

MP 2016S Rotary Mixer
OVERVIEW
This is the upgraded "S" version of the MP2016 rotary mixer and replaces the MP 2016a with a new internal universal power supply (100-240 VAC). All other functions and features are identical to the previous MP2016a model. All previous versions are compatible with the new "S" versions.
Created to model after the legendary Urei rotary mixers, the Rane MP2016S mixer brings the great sound that rotary mixers of the past were known for into the digital age. The MP2016S is a standalone product that functions like a traditional Urei 2016 but with the inclusion of the optional (not included) XP2016S board the MP2016S gets supercharged to include a 3 band EQ for each channel as well as an adjustable contour crossfader.
Other great additions include an effects loop switch, seperate booth and house outputs to be able to monitor either with headphones or in the booth (can be controlled with a switch), and split cueing which was a feature not included in the original MP2016.
Take into account the durability and great sound that Rane mixers provide and you get a rotary mixer that DJs of the past could only dream of.

A high-performance Master Limiter with true RMS detectors limits both House and Booth maximum levels. The rear panel threshold control range is ±20 dBu. Threshold indicators are provided on both the front and rear panels.
Two CD Trigger Outputs are provided via 3.5 mm mini TRS jacks. Outputs are normally high with 50 ms active low trigger pulses. Start is on tip and stop is on sleeve. Ring has no connection. The CD Trigger Enable switch is located on the front panel.
The MP 44 uses an internal universal switching power supply (100-240 VAC). The MP 44 is UL and cUL listed and CE certified with CE emissions and immunity certification.

- both 1/4" and 3.5 mm headphone jacks
- transform switches are now kill switches
- operation is simplified by putting all the controls you need on top, and increasing the width by one inch
The Rane TTM56 has been a top choice for those looking for an extremely high quality 2-channel mixer and now with the upgraded TTM56S (see above for improvements), the best just got better. The TTM56S has everything you need, whether you're a turntablist or mix DJ, from powerful 3 band-EQ and post-fader effects, to accurate and long lasting non-contact faders, this mixer has it all.
FEATURES
Performance and quality are what Rane is known for and the TTM56S delivers. It starts with a newly upgraded internal power supply that works anywhere in the world and four inputs that are now Phono/Line switchable, letting you plug in 4 turntables or 4 CD players, or any combination for versatility with different setups. Additional upgrades include both 1/4" and 3.5 mm headphone jacks (in case you misplace that adapter), transform switches that are now kill switches, and simplified operation created by putting all the controls you need on top, and increasing the width of the unit by one inch.
All the original TTM56 features that made the mixer so popular are still present including powerful "Accelerated Slope" High, Mid and Low EQs that go from +6db to Off on both channels, non-contact magnetic crossfader and up faders with hamster switches and contour curve designed to never bleed or crackle, post-fader FlexFX which allows for external reverb and echo delay effects to respond to fader action, and mic input with EQ and dedicated effects loop.
OUR OPINION
This TTM56 has proven to be a great mixer that DJs can trust, and with the improvements on the TTM56S it's sure to be around for a long time. The mixer performs like a champ and has top notch features all around, from powerful EQs, effects control, and incredible feeling faders that last. An excellent choice for any style of DJ. Highly Recommended.

TTM 57SL Mixer + Serato
OVERVIEW:
With the TTM-57, Rane has raised the bar for 2 channel mixers once again. This mixer is built on the platform of their TTM-56 (already the gold standard for 2 channel mixers), and features the Serato Live program built-in. The immediate effect is that you no longer need the Serato hub, but you can also control the Serato program directly from the mixer and they've included tons of new features as well.
FEATURES
Obviously, the main draw here is having an all-in-one digital/analog mixing system. The TTM-57 not only comes with the Serato software for your computer, but it also features the Serato interface built right into the mixer. So all you need to do is plug the TTM-57 directly into your computer without the hassle of an external hub + wires. The TTM-57 also features on board controls for the Serato program which basically allow you to control everything within the software from your mixer, so you'll barely need to touch the computer. In a new move, the TTM-57 has on board effects (filter and delay) with six possible insert points, assignable to pre- or post-channel faders for both programs. It also features recording capability (record your mix directly onto your laptop), and many more useful tweaks to the Serato / TTM-56 systems. Full features will be explored once this mixer is in stock.
OUR OPINION
This is an extremely impressive mixer, and another great step in the Rane line. The TTM-56 was already our favorite 2 channel mixer, and Serato the preferred digital dj'ing solution for most djs, so the combination of the two is nothing short of revolutionary. As with all Rane products, you can be ensured of the highest quality across the board- durability, parts, sound quality, user friendliness, customer service and everything else. Highly recommended.

XP 2016S (Expander for MP 2016S)
OVERVIEW
The XP 2016S is an optional external processor designed specifically for use with the MP 2016S. It adds 3-band EQ control, accelerated slope, an active crossfader with contour control, and more to the MP2016S.
FEATURES
The XP 2016S is intended to mount above or below the MP 2016S. It connects with a single 10-inch ribbon cable and is engaged with the flip of a switch on the MP 2016S front panel. If an XP 2016S is not connected, the XP 2016S engage switch on the MP 2016S has no effect.
The XP 2016S provides dedicated Accelerated-Slope, 3-band, full-cut tone controls for each of the six stereo Input channels, A-Post-B Crossfader Assign switches for all six Input channels, a high-performance Active Crossfader with full range Contour control, and a stereo 10-segment peak dBu Master/Cue Meter with peak hold.
The six stereo, post Mix Level signals in the MP 2016S are fed to the XP 2016S. When the XP 2016S is not engaged, the post Mix Level signals go directly to the Master Mix in the MP 2016S. When the XP 2016S is engaged, the stereo Master Mix comes from the XP 2016S.
If all Input channels on the XP 2016S are assigned Post-Crossfader, the Mix will be identical to the MP 2016S (with the addition of tone controls for each Input channel). For Crossfader control, simply assign a channel to the A or B side of the Crossfader. The Active Crossfader features a full-range Contour control for smooth blending or ultra fast cuts.
The Master/Cue Meter follows the source selection of the headphone monitor on the MP 2016S. If Master is selected, the XP 2016S Meter monitors the pre-house-level Master signal. If Cue is selected, the XP 2016S meter monitors the Cue Source.
The XP 2016S matches the MP 2016S ergonomics, packaged in a compact 19 inch, 3U rack mount chassis, 5 inches deep.

M.303 Mixer
OVERVIEW
The M.303 is Stanton's basic 3 channel mixer. It still features Stanton's SST (Superior Sound Technology) technology, but doesn not include some of the more deluxe features of its big brother the M.304. The most important of these is the omission of a Penny & Gilles fader, which is replaced by a standard Stanton fader, and the omission of the effects loop capabilities. Even without these features, the M.303 has everything you will need for 3 channel mixing. Key features include 3 band EQ with kill capabilities and kill switches, easy headphone cueing, and RCA and 1/4" outputs.

SA.3 Mixer
OVERVIEW
The SA-3 is Stanton's mid-level two channel mixer, designed with the scratch and hip hop user in mind. It features all of the requirements that scratch djs have come to expect in higher-end mixers, such as reverse and curve control on all faders, plus quite a few useful additions, at a very competitive sub $200 cost.
FEATURES
The SA-3 includes all the features that hip hop & scratch dj's need in a 2 channel mixer. These include curve adjustment and reverse control for all three faders, a mic input with gain and mute control, master / cue monitoring (you can scratch in the headphones), and rotatable phono / line switches. A major plus is the layout which is clean and intuitive with no unwanted clutter. The crossfader isn't as high performance as the Penny & Giles fader on more expensive Stanton mixers, but it is much more durable, clean and precise than Stanton's regular crossfaders. The features that set it apart from most similarly priced mixers are a powerful 3 band eq (-26/+9 db), ¼" balanced outputs in addition to standard RCA outs, dual headphone jacks for both plug sizes, and mute switches for both the headphones and the master output.
OUR OPINION
For this price range, The SA-3 is one of the most solid mixers available for under $200. It's a great choice for beginner to intermediate level scratch and hip hop djs, with everything you'll need to get going & progress.

Vestax
PMC-05PRO3 VCA Mixer
REBATE: Purchase this mixer from now till November 30, 2008 and get $50 back from Vestax. download rebate form
OVERVIEW
The Vestax PMC05 Pro is one of the best selling mixers of all time. It has gained an outstanding reputation as the primary choice for a basic, solid mixer. The design has barely changed over the last 10 years since it was introduced, mostly because nothing needed to be changed with this simple, but effective design (the 2 changes during this time were addition of Hamster switch and improved PCV faders). However, with stiffer competition in the mixer market it is about time the PMC05 got a re-design. This latest model is a welcome extension of the PMC05 series, keeping the feel and setup of the original intact, while adding several excellent new features.
FEATURES
The new features of the PMC05Pro-III include:
stronger EQs (high +/-12, low +12/-24)
effects send/receive and effects intensity controls for both channels
headphone controls moved to clear up fader area
headphone master preview switch
re-designed rotary knobs and line switches
silver faceplate
These new features truly bring the PMC05 "up to date." The only additional feature we would have liked to see is the inclusion of a mid-channel EQ, but Vestax probably wanted to keep that feature exclusive to the higher priced PMC07 model. The stronger EQs almost make up for this though with quality -24db bass kills.
With DJs incorporating more external effects, the effects send/receive is a much welcomed addition to the PMC05. Effects can be assigned to either channel or both simultaneously. In addition, you can control the intensity of the effects with 2 knob controls.
This version has retained all the main features of the 05 line, including the high quality PCV faders (3rd Generation) for all 3 fader positions, separate mic channel with 2 band EQ and pan, crossfader reverse switch, and crossfader curve adjustment. However, the most important carry-over feature is the overall layout and feel of the mixer. The controls are laid out comfortably with seemingly perfect spacing. The faders, although not optical, provide a comfortable glide with just enough tension. Although these judgments are very subjective, it is no coincidence that the PMC05 is the most copied mixer on the market.
OUR OPINION
The latest version of PMC05Pro is an easy choice for anyone buying a mixer. It offers all the necessary features for beginner to advanced levels at a reasonable price. Vestax is known for their quality construction, so out-of-the-box problems will be rare to none. When parts do wear out (a natural effect), replacements are very easy to buy and install. This is a no gimmicks pick. The only visible weakness is the lack of a mid-channel EQ (which is balanced by the improved EQs), and some advanced users may prefer the warmer sound of Rane when playing on a loud system. But don't let this dissuade you, the PMC05 Pro is as solid as it gets.

PMC-05PROIIIDX Mixer
OVERVIEW
The legendary 05 Pro has evolved once again to keep up with the changing needs of DJs. In addition to the proven functionality and effective layout of the 05 Pro III VCA, the updated DX model includes additional input/output connections that work with DJ software (like Serato) via audio interface and makes setup and switchover much easier. An optional USB connection is also available for this mixer.
FEATURES
The 05ProIII DX features the exact same main control section as the 05ProIII VCA, the only difference is the addition of the "DX mode" connection that makes it possible to connect your digital DJing software to the mixer without taking up your standard rear connections. This also makes it possible to easily switch setups at the club without stopping the sound by switching the PGM DX switch one by one. Also added is the ability to connect the optional USB connection (TUB-1) for instant digital connection from your mixer to your computer. Otherwise, the mixer still has the same proven functionality and effective layout as the previous version of the 05 Pro (the 05 Pro III VCA) including:
- stronger EQs (high +/-12, low +12/-24)
- effects send/receive and effects intensity controls for both channels
- headphone controls moved to clear up fader area
- headphone master preview switch
- re-designed rotary knobs and line switches
- sleek silver faceplate and black checkerboard EQ surface
It also retains all the main features of the 05 line, including the high quality PCV faders for all 3 fader positions, separate mic channel with 2 band EQ and pan, crossfader reverse switch, and crossfader curve adjustment.
OUR OPINION
Vestax has a great thing going with the 05Pro series and they just keep making it better. It is an easy pick for anyone looking for a quality mixer. Now with the addition of the DX mode and optional USB connectivity, Vestax has made the 05Pro a very attractive mixer to the new generation of digital DJs without compromising the features that have made the mixer so legendary. The only visible weakness is the lack of a mid-channel EQ (which is balanced by the improved EQs), and some advanced users may prefer the warmer sound of Rane when playing on a loud system. Other than this, the 05 is a very solid mixer.

OVERVIEW
Vestax's 06-Pro is a proven 2-channel mixer with a slim profile and high quality VCA crossfader and components. The 06-Pro has been a Vestax bestseller for over 10 years because of its price, profile, and straight-forwardness.
FEATURES
The 06-Pro is a basic 2-channel (2 phono + 2 line inputs) mixer designed with the active DJ in mind (scratch + mixing). It features a very slim design (designed by Shortkut of ISP) to bring the distance between your tables to a minimum. This is especially helpful for trick mixing and juggling. It features a replaceable CF-PCV crossfader with curve control, which is the same high quality fader used in higher priced models. It was also the first mixer to introduce the innovative "hamster switch" that allows you to reverse the channel inputs to suit your scratch preference. Basic features include a 2-band EQ as well as gain and pan on each channel as well as replaceable volume faders and multi-directional input (transformer) switch. There is no mic input.
OUR OPINION
If you're looking to purchase a quality dj mixer on a budget, you can't get much better than the 06 in terms of reliability and value. The lack of a mic channel and mid-channel EQ would be the only minuses, but its over quality, unique design and clean layout more than make up for those.

VMC-002XLu USB Mixer - Black
OVERVIEW
The VMC-002XLu is the upgraded version of the popular (and now discontinued) VMC-002XL mixer. This new version gets a sleek black finish and adds a USB port for easy connectivity to your computer. It features a simple, durable 2 channel design, upgradable crossfader, and XLR outputs that get you professional level connectivity at a very inexpensive price.
FEATURES
The VMC-002XLu is your basic entry level, 2 channel mixer, beefed up in terms of sound quality and durability and now the addition of a USB port. The USB port is a great since you can bypass the need for an interface and record vinyl or mixes directly into your computer (recording software needed). It has 2 phono and 2 line inputs (channel 1 and channel 2), plus 1 microphone input with volume control. Each channel has trim adjustment and 3 band EQs that go from completely off (kill) to +6dB. The crossfader is an ALPS fader (upgradeable to the CF-PCV) with a curve control switch on the front panel for "soft" or "sharp" crossfading. It also has a master/cue mix knob so you can practice in the headphones. As mentioned before, one of the main attractions of this mixer is the option for professional XLR outputs, which allow you to send a higher quality signal to any piece of equipment. The VMC-002XL also offers a standard RCA out, which you could use for your "record" out.
OPINION
The VMC-002XL gives you excellent mid-level quality and features at a very economical price. It's an ideal choice for most non-club situations (home and small studio), and with it's three band EQs and XLR outs could even be used in a club if you were in a pinch. It's compact size won't take up too much space, and it has all the necessary features for most dj's (and digital DJs now with the addition of a USB port)0. Scratch DJs will like possibility of upgrading to a PCV crossfader and there really isn't much more you can ask for at this price range.

VMC-004XL Silver Mixer
OVERVIEW
The new upgraded version of this popular Vestax mixer. The VMC series combines features and low price to offer some of the best values in the mixer market. And with most manufacturers increasing the size of their new models, the VMC series is one of the few offering more compact designs. The VMC-004XL is the 4 channel version and presents an excellent value at its price range.
FEATURES
This version of VMC-004XL improves on the previous model with XLR outputs and better EQ features. The professional level XLR outputs will help you maximize the improved sound quality on this mixer, and give you a reliable output for all your recording / dj'ing needs. You also get two additional RCA outputs (with separate master volume control) for additional options. The EQs have also been improved, going from completely off (kill) to +4dB on each channel. Another key feature is that in addition to the Master LED meter, each channel has its own meter for checking individual output (and looking real cool). The crossfader is an ALPS fader (upgradeable to the CF-PCV) with a curve control switch on the front panel for "soft" or "sharp" crossfading. There are two microphone inputs, both of which are assignable to channel one or channel two (with full use of the trim, 3 band EQ, channel fader, etc). It also has a master/cue mix knob so you can practice in the headphones.
OPINION
The VMC-004XL is a tight package for all styles of djs and experience levels. Besides the compact size and useful features, the greatest strength of this mixer is the design. Everything is clearly laid out, and operating the 4 channels is quite easy with a rotary select for cueing and easy channel assigning. This is an excellent choice for a home or small bar setup, and the four channels give you room to grow without taking up to much space.
