"My name is Raskit, listen to my flow... I socialize in Hackney or Bow... I wear my trousers ridiculously low..." Grime starts and ends with this record as far as I'm concerned. Streetwise lyrics, future beats, songcraft and rave viability all fully switched on in perfect synergy. Self-produced by Roll Deep Crew’s most junior member with the crudest production tools available when he was just 16, setting new standards for the emerging urban sound of East London and claiming grime (and the color yellow) for himself in the process. You can skip right over clunky singles “Fix Up Look Sharp” and “Just A Rascal” and head straight for the mise en scène “Sitting Here,” war dub “Stop Dat,” the still-futuristic styles of “Cut Em Off,” “Seems 2 Be” and “Brand New Day” and the pulverizing, spine-tingling “I Luv U.” Color 2LP version w/ printed inner sleeves, highly recommended.
