Lab Overview

Eno masterpiece remastered. Originally released in 1975, Another Green World found Mr. Eno experimenting more and more with alternative song structures, getting closer to his later ambient works than his earlier pop and art rock material. This was still a few albums before Ambient 1 so there is definitely a rock/pop presence as heard on the few vocal tracks like "St. Elmo's Fire," "I'll Come Running," and "Golden Hours," but it is obvious he was being drawn toward the more minimal and ambient side of things (that he would eventually come to fully realize and master) with instrumental excursions like the title track, "Another Green World," "Little Fishes," "In Dark Trees," "The Big Ship," "Sombre Reptiles," and "Becalmed." The whole album has a mellow, soothing/healing quality to it, draped with a dreamlike haze. Brilliant listening material with enormous replay value (you'll be revisiting stuff like this when your ears are tired of everything else). Recommended.
