  • Natasha Khan (professionally known as Bat For Lashes) is an English singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Her albums Fur and Gold, Two Suns, and The Bride received nominations for the Mercury Prize, one of the most esteemed in UK music. Following 2016’s The Bride, Khan moved to Los Angeles in pursuit of screenwriting and soundtrack work, her immersion into worlds of fantasy giving her fresh inspiration for her pop music career. The music of the past was also an indelible influence on Lost Girls, with Khan claiming influence from Bananarama, Cyndi Lauper, and The Blue Nile in addition to film scores by John Williams. “The Hunger” is built on a severe synth organ riff undercut with playful percussion and beautifully layered voice. “Jasmine” begins with neat sequences but becomes more abstract, with vocals alternately spoken and sung, treated and raw. “Vampires” is a tastefully melodramatic instrumental with swooning sax that would suit a Berlin-era Bowie LP. “Peach Sky” starts with kitchen sink of reverberating percussion, breathy vocals, and flanged synthesizer riffs. This record is pressed on indie exclusive clear with pink splatter vinyl.
