  • Influential ambient masterpiece from Brian Eno reissued on double LP for the first time! Originally released in 1978, Music For Airports would be the inaugural installment in Eno's four part Ambient series. The album comprises of four long form pieces crafted from layered tape loops, designed to defuse tension at an airport terminal and "induce calm and a space to think." Eno was inspired to create the album after being peeved by the uninspired sound atmosphere at the Cologne Bonn airport in the mid-70's. This revelation prompted him to ultimately create a series of albums to "accommodate many levels of listening attention without enforcing one in particular; it must be as ignorable as it is interesting." With compositional help from Robert Wyatt (of Soft Machine), engineer Conny Plank, and producer Rhett Davies, Eno was able to achieve his goal via phasing several tape loops of different lengths. This limited edition 2018 reissue plays at 45RPM, and features half speed mastering done at the world-renowned Abbey Road Studios by Miles Showell for the best possible sound quality. Comes pressed on heavyweight double 180 gram vinyl, complete with gatefold sleeve and printed mastering certificate.
