  • 1979 afro disco heat, reissued! On each side of this obscure South African 2-track, producer Maurice Horwitz lays down a classic disco groove of 4x4 drums, scratchy guitar, piano vamps and bass licks before smashing a fat rubbery analog synth right on top. “It’s Hot” has a little more swing in the groove, if that’s your thing, with the synth solo nearly slipping into Baroque arpeggio insanity. “Searchin” on the flip is slightly more focused, with a more restrained, Moroder-inspired synth lead giving way to an empowering vocal from Olive Masinga. Black vinyl 12” housed in full color replica pic sleeve, rescued from obscurity by the fittingly-termed AfroSynth label out of Johannesburg. Recommended.
