  • Dr. John's fifth full length gets the heavyweight reissue treatment. Originally released in 1972, Dr. John's Gumbo found the Southern rhythm & blues artist covering a collection of New Orleans classics in his signature eccentric style. The music here can be seen as a a tribute from the Night Tripper to his hometown of New Orleans, featuring an excellent selection of tunes including interpretations of N'awlins traditionals ("Iko Iko", "Tipitina", "Junko Partner" and "Stack-O-Lee") as well as covers of more contemporary tracks by Huey Piano Smith and Earl King all"drenched in good vibes and spiced with a pinch of voodoo." This deluxe Analog Productions reissue comes on super heavyweight 200 gram vinyl and features remastered sound from the original master tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearant Audio. Housed in lovely tip-on gatefold jacket by Stoughton Printing. Limited edition.
