  • Official reissue of The Fugees' 1996 remix album, a nice spread of rare remixes, live tracks and unreleased tunes. Salaam Remi's "Ready Or Not" remix reaffirms the group's (and Remi's) West Indian roots and is kind of an underground classic at this point. Whereas Clark Kent's version reimagines the classic tune in a more down-to-earth style; the Enya sample is swapped for more traditionally gritty Timbs rap textures, and it's interesting to hear Lauryn's vocals re-layered in a way that makes her sound more like a random backup vocal chick from the era instead of the all-powerful commandeering frontwoman. Also check out "Vocab" (both versions), "Don't Cry Dry Your Eyes" and the live version of "Killing Me Softly." A nice complement to The Score.

    • black vinyl pressing
    • first time on vinyl since 1996
    • printed inner sleeve
    • music label: Ruffhouse Records 2018
