  • "I feel like there is this blanket distortion on society/media and the way we get our news and information..." For his 3rd solo album (not counting cover projects like Tribute To), My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James addresses the chaos that exists in today's social media-driven world. The cover is a photo entitled "Illuminated Man" by Duane Michals, and it captures the theme of the LP well, with the opener, "Just A Fool," setting the musical tone for the tracks that follow: lots of fuzzy guitar licks, pulsing drums, and distorted vocals. Despite the dire subject matter, James sounds hopeful and energetic, and there are plenty of memorable hooks and melodies. Highlights include: "Throwback," "You Get To Rome," and the aforementioned first track.

    • black vinyl pressing
    • gatefold jacket
    • printed insert
    • music label: ATO Records 2018
