  • Jonti's latest release started out as a collection of 4-track demo tape recordings he put together as a mixtape on the Stones Throw Podcast series. For being born of such modest roots, Sine & Moon serves as another feather in the cap for the young Australian producer. The tracks are complex and varied, showing off Jonti's skill at combining West coast beat sensibilities with vocal techniques redolent of Panda Bear and his compatriots in Animal Collective. But Jonti brings more funk to the party than the aforementioned psychedelic quartet, even pairing up with rapper JonWayne on "Red On Green." And that is where Jonti shines, vacillating between Beach Boys inflected sonic explorations and beats that owe as much to Dam Funk as they do to J. Dilla.
