  • A very welcome reissue of Leon Ware's self-titled full length! Soul and funk diggers already know this is no easy find in the field, but thankfully Be With Records has made this rare classic available once again. Leon Ware is an unsung legend in the world of soul music. As a song writer at Motown in the late 60's, he helped bring some of the labels greatest songs to life - including tracks for Willie Hutch, the Jackson 5, and Marvin Gaye's "I Want You". Later in his career, he released several solo albums, including this self-titled joint for Elektra in 1982. You might recognize the sublime "Why I Came To California" from that first Kon & Amir compilation from 2004. This track alone is worth the price of admission, and is a timeless example Leon's mastery of breezy, early 80's soul funk - but there's so much more goodness in these grooves. Check the upbeat funk on "Lost In Love With You," the sultry riffs on "Somewhere" and the irresistible grooves of "Can I Touch You There." Comes in replica pic sleeve. Limited edition, recommended.
