Light in the Attic’s Grammy-nominated historical compilation back in print on triple vinyl! Even though Link Wray, a descendant of the Shawnee, practically invented the power chord, Native Americans have been largely ignored in the history of guitar-based music. Music historian Kevin "Sipreano" Howes recognized this problem and sought out on a 15-year-long journey to collect and curate an anthology of North American Aboriginal original recordings that showcase this rich history. The result is a powerful mix of storytelling, politics, and heartache sprawled across 34 tracks of folk, country, and rock ‘n’ roll. Notable acts like Willie Dunn, Sugluk, and Willy Mitchell get multiple entries in this album, but some of the best tracks here are a bit more esoteric. For instance, David Campbell’s deep folk cut “Sky-Man and the Moon” utilizes an eerie synthesizer to accentuate the dream-like imagery in the lyrics. 34 tracks spread across three clear LPs with huge book containing a wealth of artist interviews, liner notes and more.
