  • Paris in the 1980's was a melting pot of creative, technological and cultural forces. With an influx of African and Carribean immigrants into France (via the new Leftist government elected at the time) came a new cultural axis, instead of Paris to New York and London it became Paris to Brazzaville, Kinshasa, Abidjan and Douala. This cultural collaboration created a unique sound that is highlighted by Nouvelle Ambiance in their 2 LP compilation of the same name. The music on this compilation is the closest we can get to being in that eclectic atmosphere. Ranging from straight dancefloor afrofunk to Congolese soukous to zouk, salsa, m'balax and reggae, the music on this compilation will have even the most hardcore dance music fans groovin' hard. Traditional sounds are interpolated through emerging Western technology, creating a fantastic listen throughout. 12 tracks in all pressed onto 2 LP housed in a gatefold sleeve. Features a 28-page booklet chock-full of previously unseen photos and in-depth interviews with the musicians and producers who were pivotal in making the Parisan melting pot what it became. Dig deep, this is recommended.

    • 2 LP housed in a gatefold sleeve
    • 28 page booklet featuring in-depth interviews with musicians and producers plus previously unpublished photos
