The first Piano Overlord record was actually released by the Lab's defunct Money Studies label (also home to Diplo's first vinyl release) back in 2004-05. If I'm not mistaken, these recordings are from the same Barcelona sessions: Scott Herren delivered half the tracks to us, and half to Chocolate industries. Over the years, we still get lots of inquiries about Piano Overlord: This is some of Herren's most organic work with lots of live drums, Rhodes , and other non-synthesized keyboards. Features contributions from McEntire of Tortoise, Tyondai Braxton formerly of the Battles, Cibelle and others. In addition, Herren plans to donate the artistic proceeds of Piano Overlord releases to various relief funds for immigrants. Recommended.
