  • Sam Records released a slew of boogie disco hits in the late 70s and early 80s. Run by Sam Weiss (and later his son Michael Weiss, who also headed the seminal 90s house label Nervous Records) the label released music from Gary's Gang, K.I.D., and Leroy Burgess' Convertion amongst others. With Sam Records Extended Play Harmless has paired this amazing back catalog with some of today's brightest producers and remixers in the new disco scene. This is the first volume in the series and features Soul Clap giving Vicky D's classic "The Beat Is Mine" an updated, modern touch-up. Lots of dubbed out percussion, funky bass work, and of course - that killer squiggle synth hook! You also get the deep burning disco stomp of John Davis & Monster Orchestra's "Up Jumped the Devil" as re-worked by 6th Borough Project, and Scandal's "Just Let Me Dance" as twerked by Maxxi Soundsystem for the contemporary dancefloor. Lots of heat on this one!
