  • Heavyweight dub reissue from Scientist courtesy of Russia's Dub Mir label. I've been looking for Scientist's original Dub Landing album for about 10 years now, easy. I'm a Scientist nut, and Dub Landing is easily his best work outside of the famous Greensleeves albums, but I've never been able to come up with that psychedelic water color cover in the field. I don't ebay, but Deadly Dragon NYC (RIP) didn't even know about it. Not a good sign. So needless to say, I was psyched to see this reissue. The album starts off heavier than lead with "Invaders(1)," Scientist deconstructing the elements of Al Cambell's "Unfaithful Child" into a beautiful mess of voices, percussion hits and cymbal washes. Al Cambell tracks make a few other appearances in this set too, most notably on the double time stunner "Dark Side"- gotta wait until about the half way point for the vocals to come and tie the whole thing up. Scientist's timing is just ridiculous on that one. Also check the king kong bass and Freddie McKay vocals on "Beaming," and the further bass exploration "Time Passage." This is what it's all about folks. According to Dave Katz, these recordings come from some of the last true dub sessions at King Tubby's, when the wits and intelligence of the engineers were laid out right before your eyes. No computer business here. Remastered audiophile sound pressed at 45 RPM. CD version included. Recommended.
