If you're surprised at another Soul Jazz Studio One release, you have no concept of the vaults over there. They could keep releasing these things for the next 10 years easy. This one collects another "greatest hits" style mix of 18 tracks, each and every one of which is pure genius. The selection spans the glory years of 1964-1979, coming up with some of Coxsonne's most beloved productions, a grip of tracks so tight that you'd have to be one soul-less trance face not to enjoy these. Beautiful, timeless music: The Wailers "Simmer Down," Horace Andy "Fever," Carlton & The Shoes "Love Me Forever," Johnny Osbourne "Sing Jah Stylee," Prince Jazzbo "School," Burning Spear "Rocking Time," Michigan & Smiley "Rub A Dub Style," Sugar Minott "Oh Mr DC," The Heptones "Pretty Looks," Slim Smith "Rougher Yet," and on and on. Truly essential.
