  • Spoon formed in 1993 in Austin, TX, naming themselves after the beloved song by Can. By 1995 they had signed to the fledging indie Matador, with early critics comparing them to Pavement, The Pixies, and Wire. These are pretty typical influences for an indie rock group in the present day, but Spoon’s blend of post-punk with still-nascent indie pop was truly groundbreaking at the time, transforming from noisy and brash to a more sophisticated, minimalist form of pop music. This early success lead to the group signing for Elektra records, but in a story all too familiar, they found themselves dropped once their A&R guy left. They found a welcoming home at Merge records, increasing in profile wildly with 2005’s Gimme Fiction, and the top 10-charting Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga (2007). When asked about the methodology behind this compilation, Frontman Britt Daniel says “We struggled to fit all 13 songs on there, which is a lot for a disc. It was about picking the cream of the crop, really.” Everything Hits At Once includes new track “No Bullets Spent” in addition to many favorites you may recognize from your favorite films and TV shows including “I Turn My Camera On”, “The Underdog” “Hot Thoughts”, and “You Got Yr Cherry Bomb”. This LP is pressed on black vinyl, and includes a printed inner sleeve with full lyrics.
