  • "Tooth For An Eye" and its accompanying video definitely set the tone for The Knife's Shaking The Habitual. The duo has turned to two of the UK bass scene's leading ladies for this 12" of remixes of the track. They both strip away some of the pop mutations of the original and provide more club oriented fare. Pursuit Grooves, fresh off of the release of her own album, plays with the rhythm making things a bit more funky. Karin Dreijer Andersson's distinctive vocal trades off with echoing horn stabs as the percussion percolates away. On the flip Cooly G takes a more straightforward 4/4 house approach. Her use of the original's melodic percussion brings to mind the B side of Oni Ayhun's OAR003, familiar and haunting all at once. Something tells me these remixes came out just how The Knife wanted them to. Recommended.
