  • The Lafayette Afro Rock Band were a French and American session band that released two desirable albums in the early 70s. The infamous "Darkest Light," which deserves more than being known as the sample-source for "Rump Shaker," was released on their second album in 1974. It really is an incredible song. On the flip, The Outlaw Blues Band's "Deep Gully" is an extra chunky peanut butter groove with lazy vibes and harmonica, complete with dubbed out false ending. Good enough to be sampled by Muggs and De La, a Roosevelt Ballroom wall piece - trust me it's nice, and worth the price of admission alone. Uncredited DJ edits pressed on 45 by the Mushi label in Japan.
