On There's A Riot Going On, the Hoboken trio of Ira Kaplan, Georgia Hubley, and James McNew take full control of their sound, literally and figuratively, as a sonic reaction to the times. Yo La Tengo distills their music to the raw essence here, doing everything themselves in the rehearsal studio - no rehearsing, no engineer, no complicated gear - just pure feeling and emotion (and a little help from John McEntire on post mixing). The resulting songs came together in long stretches, with sometimes over a year between parts, but all very much worth it in the end. Includes the alluring "Shades Of Blue," "She May, She Might," the late night vibes of "Let’s Do It Wrong" and more. Comes pressed on limited edition indie exclusive translucent orange vinyl with printed inserts and download code.
