Lab Overview

Lab exclusivo! Dan Bejar’s 13th studio album sees his Destroyer project at its most electric since Poison Season. Originally planned to be a house and techno album (which he should absolutely still do), Bejar instead took a slight genre detour inspired by New Order and iconic producer Trevor Horn (The Buggles, Yes, Art of Noise). The resulting 10 tracks are just as danceable as they are frenzied. While the majority of the album is rooted in new wave and synthpop tropes, the centerpiece of the album, “Tintoretto, It’s for You,” takes these and pushes them into a nightmarish blend of heavy-hitting pianos, hard rock guitars, and metallic bass synths. The ultimate track, simply titled “The Last Song” is the outlier of the album–a gentle, whimsical resolution that pokes fun at long-winded songwriting and Los Angeles transplants. Turntable Lab exclusive bone & red swirl color edition of 400, recommended!
