  • It can be argued that Bjork hit her artistic peak on The Sugarcubes' debut album. Yeah, Debut, Post, Homogenic, all pretty incredible... however, can you find a moment in that triplet half as unique and emotive as "Birthday?" The growling pixie chorus became her indelible stamp when this album dropped back in 1988. So many incredible Bjork moments throughout the album (interspersed amongst protagonist Einar's Ice-jabbings), her pure emotion breaks through like machine gun bullets cutting through Bangkok smog. Turntable Lab exclusive pressing on blue vinyl with repro of the old blue variant cover (never could track this one down), highly recommended.
