"Featured on the acclaimed compilation 'Heisei no Oto: Japanese Left-Field Pop From the CD Age (1989-1996)' by Music From Memory, POiSON GiRL FRiEND has seen growing reappraisal in recent years, reigning as a global cult underground diva throughout the 2020s. Her major debut mini-album "Melting Moment," originally released in 1992 on Victor's Endorphin label, is now finally being reissued on clear red vinyl by Sad Disco. A fan of The Smiths and jangle pop, Tokyo-born female artist nOrikO spent part of her childhood in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, attended a French-run school where she learned French, and grew up listening to bossa nova, chanson, and canzone. Her solo unit POiSON GiRL FRiEND stood out for its uniquely enchanting Lolita-like voice, often drawing comparisons to Francoise Hardy. The project's name was inspired by 'The Poison Boyfriend,' the second album released in 1987 by acclaimed songwriter Momus (4AD, Creation Records), known as the 'heartbroken troubadour.'
