They’re apt in their own ways, encapsulating the sequenced din of “Movies” and the eerie strings of “Andromeda”, the tug of war between chamber-folk and 70’s FM psychedelia. Weyes Blood aka Cali-based singer-songwriter Natalie Laura Mering's lyrics are poignant yet conversational, it makes sense that she often credits Mr. Seger as as her top inspiration. Her voice is pitch perfect, crafting soaring melodies that are dramatic yet carefree. Co-produced by Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado, Titanic Rising will deservedly top year end lists. This 2019 violet colored vinyl pressing is exclusive to Turntable Lab and limited to 750 copies. Recommended.
