Sophomore effort from Beirut. Following Gulag Orkestar, 2007's The Flying Club Cup found Zach Condon further exploring the sounds of Balkan folk music with an indie twist. This particular album features Condon introducing the ukelele and French horns into his repertoire, as well as string arrangements from Arcade Fire's Owen Pallett (aka Final Fantasy). Check "Nantes," "Guyamas Sonora," "The Penalty," "St. Apollonia," and "The Flying Club Cup." Official 2019 reissue on Beirut's own Pompeii imprint. 13 tracks in all.
